  1. Just Google it, there are a bunch on the net....I just lost all my files or I'd send them to ya. There was also the Denimachine
  2. ...I have a friend that located this old stocker in Guntersville, Alabama a few years ago. After some homework and a call to Jimmy hisself, turns out this was one of his cars from the mid 70's.... ...possible the car pictured below..... after it was retired is was modified for Saturday Night short track use, then put out to pasture to rot away. I heard that someone had purchased it as you see here with the intent to restore it
  3. I was not able to get the right stance using the kit chasssis....without leaving the entire top of the engine off! Built per the instructions, the car sits way too high on the chassis. Test fit the mock up for sure ! I used later Monogram slicks and some yestedays decals to build Lenny Ponds super speedway car from the Daytona race
  4. Is it possible that he changed teams, went to a different owner but took the Sponsor with him after they planned the kits release ...they are assigned the numbers by Nascar by each team and owner.
  5. Hi Bill. Was just browsing the forum and saw you looking for Tom. We lost him to cancer a couple years ago around the same time as Dan Morgan and Chris Louden. Our hearts are heavy still, thats too many good friends , too close together.
  6. Hey Marty ! I'm Steve over in Huntsville, got several friends in a loosly bound club (that means we get together every once in a blue moon) and a great Mom n Pop Hobby store that we are close with. shoot me an email and I'll get and give phone #'s. Welcome to N. 'Bama !
  7. ...I have the ERTL 2 door caprice Petty kit. It looks good all the way around excpet the roof is a little goofy high in the windshield area. It could use a slanted roof chop to make it look a little more normal, excpet that it is diecast and I aint going there ! It would be a good starting point if you can find one. I may make mine available , later, once I find all the stuff for it ! I think the resin was cast off of it and improved, but its been years since I layed hands on one.
  8. I think that the only "Nascar" listing is one race and it shows it was entered but didn't complete a lap. Not very good records back then , so who really knows?
  9. ...here is another shot of the same car....
  10. That looks great and the decals really pop on that blue paint !!
  11. Here's a few more pics of cars that were tried but didn't go over so well.... The early 90's Mercury Cougar 1996 Lincoln MKVIII 1973 Grand Am 1972 GTO 1971 Thunderbird Early 80's Dodge LeBaron 67-68 Ford Galaxie the Mirada and Imperial we've referenced 1969 Grand Prix ce
  12. That Buick is a good start at a what if ! I think someone actual ran a similar buick back then, I think I have a pic.....it was JD McDuffie.... . Years ago I mocked up an AMT Torino Cobra with a Johan Superbird wing. I had seen a black and white photo of a factory mock up of a '69 Torino with a wing and also what looked like the nose of an early Datsun 240 with chrome bumper and similar headlights and under cut grill. Thats when I went actively looking for what we now know as the AeroCobras and Spoiler III. I abandoned the earlier Torino once I started on these. I may have to come back to that idea someday.
  13. seeing the Mirada and Imperials that are under construction has got me excited again! I've got the Little CeasarsLincoln MKIII and also the BoJangles Cougar from the 90's in resin, but those are still in the box waiting for some inspiration. What other cars were propsed or built but never made it to Cup racing? I know a few cars were used once or twice, like the '69 GrandPrix and the early 70's Grand Am. Model car pics or actual car pics are welcome in this thread. I did build a phantom Torino "King Cobra"(R&D Resin body combined with Revell Promodel Torino and PolarLights Cyclone chassis), and started on the Daytona II (AMT 71 Charger with AMT Daytona add ons), Superbird II (MPC kit right out the box) and also the Mercury "Super Cyclone" (Unkown resin with addition of scraps such as the hood from Datsun280zx).
