  1. Drew, no offense taken, I was just implying about the glare off the wire/bbs wheels. Ken, I'm applying some thinned black paint and seeing if that makes them look better, I'll post pics later.
  2. Hey guys, thanks for the input and kind words. I think you guys have verified the baby moons are the way to go. Drew, the camera I am using is an older Sony Cybershot DSC U-30, its the super small 2.0 megapixel one. It might be I just dont have the settings right for indoor pictures, I'm really not sure. Jason
  3. Well its only February and I've almost finished my second car of 2008, which is pretty good for me. This one is a 34 Ford Coupe, the old AMT/ERTL kit. It all box stock, the only thing I may change is wheels. The exterior color is Model Masters rattle can Honduras Maroon, the interior is also Model Masters but Phoenician Yellow. It went together fairly easy, the only issues I had was fitting the glass into the car and fitting the body to the fenders. Now all I need to do to finish is choose wheels, which I'm hoping you guys can help with, and choose an air cleaner. I'm wanting an older traditional streetrod look, like something your grandfather would have driven/seen in the late 70's to late 80's. These are the stock wheels the kit came with, And these are some wheels I found from an old Chevy truck kit, You can also see the picture box I created in the background pretty much for free. Just a box, some thin sheets of styrofoam and some white wrapping paper. I'm glad I finally did this, it really makes pictures look nicer. Now I just need a nicer camera! let me know what you think, Jason,
  4. This is my workbench in my garage. This is where I work when its warm outside, but since I live in indiana and its been cold as $%^& lately, I've migrated everything to the basement. Here are some shots of my garage bench, I cant show you pics of the basement or my wife would kill me...
  5. I am a heavy duty service engineer for Cummins Engine Co. Basically I assist with testing and implementing fixes for any issues that arise on our current product ISX and ISM engines that power semis, large tractors, etc.
  6. I'd like to see - street cars - 2008 BMW M6 coupe '85-'92 Volkswagen Jetta 1980's Monte Carlo "Sport Coupe" - I'd be happy with a resin nose, Chevy Cobalt Dodge Neon - First Gen and a SRT-4 - Racing - Jeg Coughlin Pro Stock Cobalt. J.R. Todd Skull Shine Top Fueler Ashley Force Funny Car Any Austrailian V8 supercars
  7. I was wondering if anyone knew of a resin model part company that sold a kit or cab/conversion part to make a 2003-2006 Chevy silverado. I want to do a buildup of my 1:1 daily driver, a 2004 silverado, and I've checked bandit, r&r and model roundup and did not find anything. I was thinking of maybe using the 1999 Silverado kit that Revell sells and find a resin company that sells the 03-06 nose or cab, then converting it. Or if someone sells a kit i'd buy it. If anyone knows of a company, let me know Thanks, Jason
  8. Here are some pics of my finished 2006 Mustang. Its the Revell kit with TE 37's on it. I also found some Parnelli Jones decals on Ebay and used the numbers and hood stripe. I'm not real happy with the stance in the back, but I test fit everything without the interior in, and then once I put it together the rear wasnt as low as before. Here are 3 pictures, My digital camera went dead before I could take anymore, Let me know what you think!
  9. Here are some pics of a model I finished the other day. I took the leftover Tony Stewart kit that I had jacked the decals from for my 55 pro stock chevy and some spare jimmy spencer and kenny wallace decals and came up with this thing. I built it in a couple of days, so its not real detailed or perfect, but here ya go,
  10. Thanks for the input guys. I have to agree I love this kit also. The longer tabs on the parts along with the highly detailed parts pictures make this kit prolly the easiest and most enjoyable kit I've built this year.
  11. Well, here are some pics of my new project. Its the Revell 2006 Mustang kit. I saw a photo of an old parnelli jones mustang racecar and it sent me off this morning to pick up this kit. I've already got started on it, and I decided to put my own spin on it, I'm painting it Grabber orange, but picked up some volk rims for it. I dont know if I like the bronze wheel, so I might paint them gunmetal or chrome, we'll see, so tell me what you think of the mockup. edit** Resized images**
  12. I won off ebay yesterday a Buick Grand National, 33 Willys coupe and a 67 Plymouth GTX.
  13. Thanks for all the help and input guys. Its coming out very well. I've had it soaking for about 20 hrs now and the paint is coming off very easy, within the first 4 hours the paint was bubbling and coming loose, I cleaned the loose stuff off at lunch and put it back in and now I'm about to take it out and check again. I'm very pleased with this product, the scent isnt too bad and it works without being rough on the plastic. Now, is there anything special you guys use to clean it before repainting or will the usually water/soap bath work?
  14. This is my first time using purple power to remove the paint from a model and I have a few questions for people who have used it. Do you usually use it full strength or dilute it? How long does it typically take to remove paint? And what is the safe time frame for leaving a model submerged in it (will it melt plastic)?
  15. Hey everyone, thanks for all the input and kind words. Here is the next stage in the 55 build. The only thing left really is the carbs, taillamps and window glass I havent done much more to the 29, I'm stuck on whether or not to chop it. In the meantime I also started building a 66 Nova that started as a box stock build but has evolved some, and now I'm waiting on some wheels to show up in the mail. I never can just build something simple...
