I love all the detail on this car. Great job!

I found this pile at a yard sale several years ago. It was two of the Mountain Dew/Pepsi Darryl Waltrip set. Looks like enough parts to make just one complete car, if I use a Monte Carlo body, but I am building the Buick, so I need to find a hood for the Regal. I found some scanned instructions on the internet, and started on the chassis. The last pic what I have so far.

A buddy found this a thrift store and grabbed it for me, maybe 7 years ago? I Don't like the newer stock cars as much, but it was free and it gave me an excuse to build a car I always liked, the Kelloggs car of Terry Labonte. I started painting and ordered some decals, and then it sat in the box with the chassis done and the body partially painted for the next 6 years or so. Pulled it out the day of the Daytona 500, and got it finished last night.

This is a great project, I love these trucks!

This project is super cool. I like AMCs.

Thats an interesting choice as well. The truck is supposed to be a low buck hot rod, something a high school kid would be driving. Any of these ideas will work.

Thanks for the ideas, guys, I will for sure look into a few of these.

Ah, that's a good idea. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the tip!

I haven't worked on this in several months. I am stuck. I don't know what I want to do with this interior. I was thinking about a mexican blanket style seat cover, but not sure quite how to accomplish that. Maybe a brown bench seat? maybe the dash should be red, I don't know. Stuck. I also was thinking about hot rodding the 6 cyl a bit. if you have any ideas, lets hear them.

Thanks for all the encouragement, everyone. Its the MPC kit.

This turned out amazing. I love the faded paint, and the wheels and tires.

This is a cool project, I like the idea. I have this kit as well, and the windshield frame is warped. I may do the same thing. Looks great so far!

This is a very cool project. Those wheels turned out really nice!

Are you building this as a drag car?
I am building it as close to the real car as possible. I figured Drag racing would be the closest section for a Pro street car.

I think that's the best plan. Much tedious masking for sure, but the embossing powder might cover/mask any imperfect masking/edges. Not judging here, the masking is a challenging task. ?
Thats what I am thinking, too.

I've had this for a few years, and finally got going on it. I really like these Hot Rod series of kits from Revell. Lots of good kits in the series, and several re-boxed older kits, but good subject matter on most of them. This kit is very well detailed, and I am enjoying the build so far.
I'm going to use Alclad chrome on the roll cage, and that presents a challenge with the floor pan. You can see in the last picture that the lower part of the cage is molded into the floor. My intension was to paint the floor red for the carpet, then mask the red, so I can paint the black and then chrome on the cage, then decide whether to use flocking or embossing powder last. Not sure if that's the best strategy or not. We will see how it goes.

I love the paint on this truck, beautiful job! Who makes that color?
A few on the bench. Buick, Olds, Lumina

Does anyone know what this piece is? It goes in the passenger side on the roll cage. I can't see in any pics of the Bobby Allison 1983 Buick to see if it should go in that car, or what color to paint it.
