I did some research for this build. The kit engine is incorrect so I modified and scratch-built items to correct it. I also corrected the way the grill/front fascia looked. Many of the body extras lack proper mounting points so I also drilled and pinned those. Done with some research this is a great kit.
  2. Thank you. It is definitely a task. If you do plenty of planning ahead you can stop problem areas from happening too bad. There are some areas that lack detail in the kit so I had to scratch build and add some things.
  3. Thanks! It's a tedious build but patience paid off. Good luck!
  4. Thank you very much! Here's a link to my facebook page with the build photos. I did some modifications to both front and rear wheel mountings. Going by reference pics, the fronts in the kit had the large solid backings but the real truck had tiny little hubs that you could see through the wheels. I kitbashed the pieces needed to duplicate that best I could and still have them functional. They wobble a tiny bit when the model is lifted but there's no problem making them level sitting static. For the rears I had to modify the backings to fit the aftermarket slicks. They were slightly too small so they are super glued to the backs of the wheel faces. It was a bit tricky but they function as well. https://www.facebook.com/pg/JPH-Productions-111248022274086/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1481322471933294
  5. You can see Maverick at work driving the real thing here. Good footage of him pulling the chute at 1:25 into the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqTpZJROzCU
  6. That is the parachute release handle. He just had the cable running up the roll bar to that spot where he could pull it.
  7. If you have Ollie's anywhere near you, they sell models for 7.99 and this is one they have sometimes. It's where I got this one.
  8. Do a google images search for the truck and take a look. No windows or center brace up front. ?
  9. This was the method I came up with. All of this was done in final assembly. I used a tiny piece of double back adhesive tape to temporarily place the bottom hinge onto its counterpart in the door jam, in the closed position. I then placed the door and used a blade to lightly mark where the edge of the door is on the hinge. I took the small hinge piece back off and removed the tiny piece of tape, and epoxied it into the assembled door. I let those bottom hinges cure for a few days. Next was the tedious part. I did the same procedure with the double back tape and placed the tiny hinge in the closed position. I carefully put epoxy into the slot in the door, then put it on fully closed. I carefully reached into the gap between the door and the cab with an Xacto and pushed the hinge fully into the door slot. Then I let them sit all day to cure. Thankfully it worked just as I planned it.
  10. Thanks. The doors were definitely the hardest part of final assembly. When I built it in the 70's I couldn't make them work.
  11. I spent a while thinking of a method for attaching the doors. Thankfully it worked. The real truck had no windows, so it simplified that part of the build. Just had to eliminate the center post.
  12. Lemme tell ya, THAT was tedious! But, they open and close perfectly lined up!
  13. My take on Lindberg's LRW. I did quite a few modifications and scratch building. The only aftermarket parts are the Blue Streak rear slicks.
