  1. It came out well. I think the real key to Alclad are 3 things. Smooth black or dark blue ENAMEL paint as a base. NO clear... Very low spray pressure. Like 5-7 psi Spray on the part at an angle. Not directly like you'd paint a body.
  2. You know, I get it. I get the same feeling. Maybe not "guilt", but that's close enough of a word to describe the feeling. I think its because you have a plan in your head all week to do this or that on a model, and when you can't or don't sit down to do it, there is sometimes kind of a guilt or disappointment that you didn't do it. Even if the reason was because you were doing more important things... I totally get it. I feel whatever that feeling is too sometimes. Still don't know if its guilt. I have felt guilt after I spend time building and realize I could have spent that time with my kids or wife. Kids are older - grown, but you still feel that sometimes too. THAT is guilt The other I'm not sure, but its definitely something.
  3. I think one way to ask this would be... who consistently has the best kits from a fit perspective? I think there is no doubt that this woudl be Tamiya.
  4. Mine wasn't quite that clean, but ut wan good.
  5. LOL Mike yup it sure looks line one of my wires fell off. That 302 wouldn't run will on 7 cylinders haha.. Thanks for noticing that. I'll have to get that repaired tomorrow.
  6. I think for some reason the grille piece is pushing the grill up. It test fit fine before I put the grille in. Kinda bugs me but I'm moving on. The weird thing is this is probably the 4th one I've done and none of the others did this, so clearly I messed something up somewhere.
  7. This is a copy of the 69 Mustang I owned for 13 years. It was nice outside, and I had put a new interior in it. These kit seats are wrong for my car but oh well. I gave the engine a duplicator restoration which is to say I cleaned it up and painted it. This kit has the 289 engine from the 67 kit...close enough. I never had a single issue with the 302 engine in this car. The previous owner who had started this car had replaced some sheet metal underneath, and I finished the trunk and put a new gas tank in it. I also had it painted. The original color was Indian fire and sorry folks, IMHO a 69 Mustang Sportsroof isn't supposed to be brown... The underside was well driven. I replaced the front lower control arms, bushings and etc. I was one of the few people who had about the same money into the car as I sold it for. Last but not least. The front end of this kit drives me insane. Its like the sad droopy version of the real car. Though I still continue to build it.
  8. Build what you love, and no doubt there will be others that do too. My thoughts are that if you bump onto one guy who is into the same stuff that you are, and you make a friend, it's worth it.
  9. That is a great tip.... I ave to try that. My corner always folds over.
  10. I use Duplicolor or Plastikote. Bot perform equally well for me. Both the sandable primer type.
  11. I use Easy Lift off paint stripper. Usually can find it in regular hobby shops. It strops anything and does not harm the plastic.
  12. Mine cracked too. Went right back to Duplicolor.
  13. I have to say if you ever drove an STI or an EVO you might change your mind. These cars are fun to drive with a capital F
  14. Beautiful paint work and an excellent and realistic engine bay. Very nice !
  15. It's cold, but I shot some paint. My garage got up to 37 deg. so I took everything out there, painted it, then brought it all back into the basement to dry. The pics are just quick snaps from my cell, but shows the red. This is Testors bottle gloss red lacquer. I really love Testors bottle laquers. I wish they would bottle more of the laquer paints. I have to mask off and spray the engine bay sometime this week as well.
  16. Someone did reach out to me to give me a few tips and if ended up being an issue with the inner nozzle. I put a different one in and it works now. So weird because it looks perfectly fine to the eye...but is sure isn't.
  17. Tonight I pained a few parts and had no issues. When I got done I cleaned it like I always have, and put it away. Later I went back to paint some more stuff, and no paint came out. So I took it all apart and cleaned it again. One of the things I do is take a pipette with thinner. and spray it into the siphon hole to run some thinner thorough it. I saw some thinner spraying back out of the hole. Hmm... So I took the whole thing apart and cleaned every inch if it. I then filled a jar with clear thinner to see if when I pull the trigger back, I got bubbles down in the jar, and sure enough I did. So the air is going back down into the jar, which of course prevents the paint from sucking out of the jar like it should. I am definitely getting air out of the nozzle...but also down into the jar preventing the paint from siphoning out to spray. Needless to say I am stuck, and I'd sure like to know what is causing this all of a sudden. Any thoughts ? Thanks, JJ
  18. I like the 99-04's too. I just finished one of the 99's. I had a 2000 Mustang and drove the wheels off that thing. I have an 06 now and I like that too.
