  1. Wouldnt really want to see it parked in front of my house, not at my age. Nice looking hearse... Steve
  2. I'm thinking that the first issue had the tuck'n'roll tub for the roadster body, the buckets for the coupe body, and a stock seat for the stock fendered version roadster. Seems like the stock seat has always been there. Does that sound right?
  3. thats a real pretty little twin ya got there. great job! steve
  4. Dont give up Jim. If you truly want to quit and you are ready, you WILL be able to do it. Depends on your reasons...good luck to ya both... Steve
  5. John, you really breathed some new life into this old doll. Beautiful paint work, and I like the stacks. Congrats on this cool interpretation... Steve
  6. That's a great bunch of kits there. A lot of models "out there" don't really interest me, but just about everything in this haul does! Guess I'm kind of an AMT guy too. Grew up on them. Very good deal you got! Congrats!
  7. Thanks, Tim, for sharing this one. The seating arrangement is great, and the jet drive is a cool variation. These hotrod boats were pretty neat when they started showing up as models in the 60's. I've got 2 or 3 I need to get done someday. Hopefully, Gregg will let us see the story you talked about. Steve
  8. Very nice midget, Art. Great paint job. This kit was one of my first models as a kid, but it was covered with glue instead of paint LOL. Steve
  9. Hey Gary, I'm not terribly close, but if you consider a BIIIG neighborhood, then we are both in it. I am just south of Lubbock. In my younger days I lived in Electra, just down the road from you. I shop in Lubbock, Odessa, and once-in-a-while I get to Irving to Wild Bills Hobbies. Give me a holler. Steve
  10. I'm visiting in the Philippines, and I saw this in a plaza one day. One of the locals told me it's called a "MacArthur Jeep". Thought y'all might like to see it. Lots of interesting vehicles here, and driving here is some kind of wild experience. Steve
  11. Super looking Camino, Craig! And that color is gorgeous. What paint is that? Wish my builds looked half as good as this one. Great job... steve
  12. Sam...GREAT looking cars! Really like the Pontiac. And that 55 looks fantastic in those colors. You're doing a wonderful job on these cars. Hope the job thing picks up for ya soon. steve
  13. Well, it's different! I agree it's too long, and maybe the top is too low. Otherwise, it ain't bad. I like the wheels for sure. Where did they come from? steve
  14. I'm glad you guys like this one. The one thing that makes it work is those wheels. Really excellent wires to be made of plastic. I would love to have some more. But I have no idea where those came from. This build was over 20 years ago, and maybe they were in one of my kits or maybe they came from a parts box that I acquired. The bullets on the wheels are cool, but I only had two silver and two red ones. So, I thought I would just try them both. My big parts boxes are about a hundred miles away, and when I can get to them, I may replace the bullets with knockoffs. This kit and the coupe are some of my favorites from AMT. Maybe I will buy them again and try some new stuff. Steve
  15. This is a rebuild of one I originally did about 20 years ago. Back then it was candy green with some really ugly red and yellow flame decals on the hood and sides. It had skirts and dual antennas and a fuzzy tonneau cover and was still a convertible. Now the top is gone and we have a hard tonneau. Also opened up the wheel wells. This is my first shiny paint job in about 15 years, and I had some problems as you can see. But it's a step in the right direction, and it's done. So, take a look and tell me what you think.
  16. Happy Birthday, Kevin. Hope you had a good one. Steve
  17. I kinda go along with Torino. The only people that can really appreciate this hobby are the ones IN the hobby. So, posting builds on the forum is a way to share them and possibly get some input from other builders. I do build my models the way I want them. The style I want, the level of detail I choose. But it's cool to have the support of your peers. Steve
  18. When I was 12 or 13, I used this kit to enter my first model car contest. AMT's Corvair with the Styline parts. My first attempt at using body filler, too. I used this custom front clip and the matching rear clip. Also had dual antennas on the rear fenders, dual fender-mounted mirrors, and dual spotlites on the roof. Color was candy apple red. Interior was white with the black vinyl inserts that came with the kit. Used the wire wheel covers with red bullets in the center. The tv was mounted on the back of the drivers seat. If i remember right, there was a cowboy on the screen, LOL. Didnt win anything, but I was mighty proud of this one at the time. Steve Oh, and it did come with an all chrome engine to display outside the car.
  19. Thanks Gregg for having us. Thanks everyone for sharing your builds, tips, ideas, and humor. Hoping that Santa is good to all the boys and girls on the forum, LOL, I'm sure you've all been good. To everyone here: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Steve
  20. $1.54 here in West Texas for regular. Thats at T&C convenience store.
  21. plastikfreek, this particular body was from first or second issue straight from AMT. I've had a few over the years. Now, I'm down to just one more. But, word is that the original kit with chopped coupe is being re-issued next year. Glad you guys like this one.
  22. This was an old hotrod turned into drag car. Blown Buick motor from 40 Ford SD.
  23. Want to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. Like was said earlier, we hear a lot of bad things these days, but we still have so much to be thankful for. Happy holidays all! Steve
  24. Just like so many others in this hobby, I build models of the cars I would like to own, but cannot afford. I've done it for years through many 1/1 fads and styles. It's just interesting to see your own ideas in 3-D right in front of you. And its a good way to relax from the rigors of daily life. Thank God for the hobby and the nice people in it.
