  1. Great job on those rims, perfect symmetry! David, I made some Porsche Boxster Spyder rims pretty much in the same way Darin describes above. They are not too dissimilar to what you are after with those Alcoa's
  2. Thanks guys! I actually finished this up the other evening, more pics in completed section.
  3. WIP pics here http://www.modelcars...showtopic=50346
  4. Added CF decal to the eyebrows and wing mirrors Wheels are Aoshima 19" Kranze Borphes painted with Tamiya Titanium Gold with alternate spoke detailed with gloss black
  5. Some internet images resized for license plates Incidently the 'Dark Spartan' script on the back of the spoiler is hand drawn with a technical drawing pen before the clear coat was sprayed. Rolled down windows replicated with o.o5 clear styrene sheet Car curtains common with the VIP scene were made from strips of thin paper. Lots of scrunching and folding required to achieve the fine folds of the curtain to give it a natural drape look. Seatbelts made using 2mm black tape
  6. A coke bottle was machined from a piece of clear sprue The coke liquid is a mix of Tamiya smoke orange and red painted on Dipped into some Johnsons Klear for a nice shiny finish and a scribble in white with a fine brush to depict the coke logo.
  7. Preshaded the interior a la aircraft modeler style Scratchbuilt a typical Jap tuner drinks tray/phone holder type thing from plastic card and small metal tubes.
  8. All comes together with the clear coat. I used 2K automotive lacquer
  9. A light coat of Vajelo clear blue is dusted on to give bluish hue to the glow. A small touch of other clear colours was added around the helmet. Fine lines of white added for the streaks of electricity following the path of the glow.
  10. Masking over the helmet with the cut out set aside from the previous process I laid down the base or glow for the electricity. Lightly airbrushed streaks of white were laid down giving the appearance of emanating from behind the helmet. A heavier build up of colour was placed in areas to form 'hot spots' and glowing eyes.
  11. Hello fellow modellers! Just a quick intro; My name is Chris, some of you may know me from the Automotive Forum which, up til now, has been the only forum I've bothered to post in but now I feel like joining other forums and making some new buddies! Others may know me from my Scale Auto Style products from a few years back. I have been very slack with my model making and struggled to find the time or focus and finish a project for several years. I'm making more of a concerted effort to build something and it all boils down to not wasting time on things like the TV or video games - my current mantra is 'SWITCH IT OFF'! Anyway, onto this project... The idea for this is loosely inspired by this guy - A real life UK superhero i.e. a slightly eccentric nerd who reads too many comics and likes to dress up in a fancy costume. The name seemed to fit my freshly sprayed Midnight Black Celsior which I felt had a slightly menacing look about it. I suppose every superhero also requires a cool car yet I imagine my Dark Spartan to be prowling the highways of Tokyo and not the one way system around Torbay in England. If any of you find a few spare minutes then I suggest you look into the UK real life superhero scene as I guarantee it will give you a chuckle - I'm quite fascinated by them! Searching the net for spartan pictures for inspiration on a design I opted for a simple helmet silhouette and I looked into airbrushing techniques for painting lightning/electricity and the Dark Spartan Celsior was born. I'm no airbrush whizz kid by any means, this is the first time I've tackled anything like this and I made plenty of errors. However the beauty about this lightning/electricity technique is that the randomness of it will cover up any mistakes so I can recommend it if you have not been brave enough to attempt such a thing in the past. From the helmet image a mask was cut out and positioned on the hood, Vajelo white acrylic was lightly airbrushed on, building up highlights in selected areas. Using a fade resistant fine line drawing pen shadow and detail was added Using Vajelo paints again I added some metalic detail and shading. With mixes of Tamiya clear acrylics (smoke, yellow, red) I airbrushed more shading and highlight effects to give the helmet a metalic gold appearance.
