  1. So much detail!!  With the outstanding job you did on the weathering you almost overlook all the work that went into opening the doors and trunk, adding the interior door panel and detail under the trunk lid.  That alone looks great.  Then the weathering just takes it up several notches.  I especially like the work on the vinyl top and seats.

So here's where I'm at on the 74 Plymouth...

As discussed in Q&A, I painted with Duplicolor products but the clear is just not getting hard. It spent a couple weeks off and on in the dehydrator and I went ahead and started cutting the clear with sandpaper and polish. Sands very easily because it's not that hard but I also can't get a satisfactory shine. More time seems to be the answer. Stripping it and starting over is not an option because if it comes to that then I'm out.

I've encountered this once before, but it happened when I airbrushed nail polish. At the time I thought the polish had a softener to prevent chipping but it took over a year to harden.

The interior is mostly done, still need to detail the dash. Here's where the body stands right now...

That color looks awesome!!  Hope the clear works out for you.

Hello everyone! I hope your builds are coming along. Like always, if you have any updates, we'd definitely enjoying seeing them!

As for my update, I've been blocking-in the transmission. It's interesting to note how small a rotary engine really is!

Can't wait to see all this design work come to fruition!!

  4. Decided at the last minute to change the wheels and tires.  Which means redoing the rear suspension.

I think I am just avoiding dealing with the little super glue blob I got on the roof.  Still not sure how I want to deal with that.

I ended up using the SVT cobra rear end (or at least most of it) and exhaust.

With all the talk about Micheal's and Hobby Lobby having kits on discount. I held off as long as I could. But curiosity killed the cat. So I did 100 miles today checking out the closest stores to me.

The 2 Micheals. One had kits but not at discount. The 2nd one had no kits what so ever. And the remains of their Testors paint just on a shelf. That store doesn't look like they are going to carry them anymore. That store wasn't very big.

The 2 Hobby Lobby's. One store had one Revell Motor City Muscle 1966 Mustang kit for $14.99. I have 2 built already. So I passed on it. And both stores had their shelves full of the same kits from the past few years.

While near a distant Ollies. I stopped in and found an AMT 007 1971 Mustang kit. Only car kit that store had.

So I got one kit in my trip which is better than none right?

And I looked for Tamiya polishing compounds at both Hobby Lobby's. None. And they had some new pen type things. I can't described them any better than that because the labeling was in Chinese. So I couldn't read it.

With the price of gas right now, that kit, including the trip, would have cost me about $40

    Thanks Mike.

Small scale and all media? How about 1/100 paper models? Was heavily into these for a while when taking a break from plastic.

All 1/00, all printed out on A4 paper, all fiddly (but fun) to build and all available as free downloads from the amazing Minimodel website (free but if you can donate they're very appreciative 😉:

Those are really cool.  Just looked at the site and downloaded a couple.  You did a great job on them, especially after looking a few over and the very small detail in involved.

  7. I brush paint a lot of interior and detail parts.  I actually enjoy the brush painting as it allows me to take my time and relax more with the model.

Multiple thin coats is the key.  I will sometimes just do one coat a day over several days.

It's monotonous but works for me.

That being said, I don't brush Tamiya paints.  I have tried, didn't like it and only spray them now.
