  1. Little bit of a side deal I have, I do race car design. This was for a local racer (who ended up jerking my around on the $$ but whatever) Came out great, haven’t seen the real deal in person yet, he stuffed it into the walk recently and the car hadn’t been out in a bit
  2. Getting closer! I need to finish the engine, there are wires hanging everywhere, and the tin needs paint. And I still have to do decals. And clear. Maybe it’s not so close? Anyhow, pretty happy with it overall, even if I couldn’t get it low enough.
  3. Yeah, I’m figuring out they very few parts from the Thunderbird are needed. I’ll be using the front frame and suspension, rear end, some other miscellaneous parts...I probably had all of that in my parts bin, but that’s ok, I am using the gold wheels on another project, and I can always use Pro Stock parts....
  4. Well, I’m sure I’ll make a couple mistakes that we can both learn from! I may do Bob’s other Fairmont if this goes well...and maybe Animal Jim’s Zephyr!
  5. Here we go! About to start my “holy grail” build of my favorite race car ever, Bob Glidden’s undefeated Fairmont. Got my resin body and a bunch of detail items from Scott at Futurattraction. Decalsfrom Slixx, donor kit from eBay, and I’ll start it when I get a couple more in-process builds off my bench...I have too many underway!
  6. So....major setback that I’ll try and make the best of. The clear was NOT happy with the Duplicolor silver, and when I was wet sanding it peeled off. So I guess I’ll sand it all down, order more decals, and try again. While I’m at it I’m going to fix a couple issues that showed up when the clear was applied, hopefully this just makes for a better build in the end.
  7. Thanks for the compliments, I’ve suddenly found myself doing a LOT of foil, getting a lot of practice. Yeah, I did put the headers on it. What a nightmare those were! Literally had to cut chunks of the frame out of the car. I had forgotten that part! I used Duplicolor “perfect match” Toreador red metallic spray paint, there’s no real flip to it, the lighting in the pictures must be why there is such a variance. Tim
  8. Just wrapped this one up. Bob Glidden’s 68 Mustang Super Stocker. This screw-bottom kit is not great, not looking to do any more of these if I can help it! It’s amazing to me that some details can be so good, yet basic stuff is overlooked. Oh well, this was a quick build and I’m very happy with it. Slixx decals, the wheels from a Thunderbolt kit, and some foil are really the only detail I added. I took some liberties with the class/car number, it should be on the side windows, but this kit doesn’t have those, so I threw them on the windshield.
  9. This is an older build, but I’m pretty happy with it. More or less box stock, I guess, although I airbrushed the “chrome” instead of using the decals, and I painted the white on the side of the body instead of using the decal...automotive paint and clear so I could wet sand and polish
  10. Great build! Love it. I'm starting on the Bob Glidden version in a little bit, any "glitches" with this kit I need to be aware of? Again, fantastic build and great subject! Tim
  11. Right? SO much more realistic. I just need to play with the color, maybe add a little brown to it to make them look dirty, like the real thing. It's a stencil, I can't remember the manufacturer. I'll take a picture of it tonight and post it tomorrow. And, thank you so much for the compliment, I appreciate it!
  12. Well...I started it a LONG time ago, and did a lot of things with the build that I am not happy with now. Now that I am getting to final assembly, the body came out great, but I can't bear to put it on that chassis that I have for it. So, it goes back into storage until I finish a few others and can focus on making it right. This one has fought me from the start. The first body I painted was for the all white Glidden car, but the red plastic bled through the paint and turned it pink. I found another body and started over on that part...now it's just frustrating me and I need to not look at it for a bit!
  13. So, it's been cleared, but I have a stance issue. If I get the body to sit low enough, the valve covers will hit the hood. Now I get to disassemble it some, build drop spindles, and I may do a couple other tricks to get the hood to clear. Next is wet sand and polish, fabricate side windows, and final assembly. Overall I'm sorta happy with it, although the clearcoat magnified a couple of flaws in the paint which I could live without....
  14. The Mustang II has been banished, but these two are progressing nicely. I've never done this much foil on a build, but it's going pretty well. The Galaxie should be on it's feet by the weekend, and the 442 will need some surgery on the front half to get the stance right. The Sox and Martin car is nearly done but I have no pics. I'll post that one in a few days.
  15. So, you appear to be VERY knowledgeable on the Jenkins Vegas, so I'd like to ask you a question...I can not find good interior pics of this car. Did the early car depicted in the kit have a Lenco? I see lots of pics of the recreations running around but I'd like to be at least a little accurate...

  16. Thank you so much for the kind words! I used MCW paint on this one. I wanted to be sure the blue and the red were correct. The base white is just rattle can white. I use 1/4" 3M tape for most of my lines of separation and start with VERY light coats of paint on the edge of the tape to help seal the edge before I get a little heavier with the coats. I use all kinds of different paint on the suspension, I believe the leaf springs were metalizer titanium, which I then coated with a wash of floor wax/black paint to weather it a bit. it really brings out the details. I try to spray or airbrush as much as possible, and avoid using a brush if I can, other than very small details.I also use sharpies (black and silver) for bolt heads, etc. Hope that helps!
  17. Fantastic build, I love it. Not even a fan of dragsters (I'm a door car kind of guy) but this thing looks great!
  18. I guess this is technically "WIP" so I'll put it here. I have a LOT of builds going at any given time (ADD will do that to you)....Anyhow, I use automotive catalyzed clear, and I don't want to waste any of it so I usually wait until I have two or three bodies then I shoot them at once. Somehow I found myself with a backlog of bodies waiting for clear, so I shot them a couple of weeks ago. Chassis are done and sitting there, so I have a bunch of finish work to do in the next few weeks! Four Bob Glidden cars, the WJ 442, and the Sox and Martin Cuda should all be wrapped up in the next month. I already have four others in process, so my bench is a little crowded.
  19. One additional thing to add to this discussion....I somehow LOST THE TAIL LIGHTS for this kit. If anyone can help, please shoot me a message...I have parts to trade if you need
  20. Yeah, I understand that there are authenticity issues with the underside, I didn't do enough research on that...I'm more bothered by the engine color, but I'm not blowing it up to make that change!
