  1. Thanks Brian, I have not yet got the AMT kit, but if the hood does open, all the better that I use the 300-6. Ron
  2. Tom, I have wondered about this myself. But, I'll try to be as authentic as I can. I don't think the hood opens in the Econoline kit, so I may cut it open. I'll know more when I get the kit. Thanks for the advice. Ron
  3. Thanks guys for the information. I'll check these out. I'm planning to reproduce in 1/25 scale my 1976 Ford short w.b. E150 van. It had a 300-6, three speed manual trans. I used it as a personal vehicel, shop truck for my business and towed a drag race car around for years. Greta truck, the 300 was a great engine. Good torques, decent on gas and easy to work on in that chassis. I appreciate the help. Ron
  4. Does any kit have a Ford 300 cid 6 cylinder in it or anything that might be close. Ron
  5. Hats off to two great guys whose trades have helped me lately. I can now get my next project started. 1948ron. gbtr6 - Perry Paul Alflen
  6. Guys, Don't have pictures of the real truck. If I can get out there I will, because I may find a way to letter this like the original. Trying to gather enough parts to build a replica of my 1956 Ford F350 with its 9 foot bed. Also try to build a 1940 Ford Fodor that mimicks a drawing done on a Bob Drake calender back around 1990. It was of an army car, olive drab with '40's army markings on the side. Also I have been on a kick lately to build replicas of cars I have owned, Just finishing a 1966 Mustang coupe.
  7. I modeled this after a real truck that sets outside an antique store in the Ann Arbor area. Real trucks been there for years and pretty faded, so I painted this one to match. May try to find decsls to leter the model like the original.
  8. Thanks guys. Nice to see a lot of us older guys getting back into the hoppy or continuing to build.
  9. I am 1948Ron. I started building model cars in 1958 when AMT came out with their first 3 in 1 kits. I started with thier Edsel, Mercury, and Lincoln kits and built many kits until age 16 when I could drive. In the 1980's I introduced my two daughter and son to kit building and we enjoyed many hours building kits that they had an interest in. After they stopped so did I until 2020 when I decided to fix up some of my orginal cars that I still had. After completing those, I decided to try to build an example of all the real cars I had previously owned. Found the building was very theraputic doing the Covid lockdown. I must admit that building 1/25 scale models is a lot harder at 72 than is was at 10. Hands and eyes not what they used to be. I enjoy it all the same and am glad to return to it.
