On my way to my Group 25 Model Car Club meeting, I stopped at a LHS, Sunward Hobbies. They have recently moved to a new, much improved location. Much more space in the aisles and greatly increased product on the shelves. Yay! While there I picked up the two smallest sizes of Evergreen tube.

Back in "simpler" times, there were only two paint lines associated with Mr. Hobby, Mr. Hobby (acrylic) and Mr. Color (lacquer). Now they have introduced two more lines, which appear to both be acrylic, Mr. Hobby Acrysion and Mr. Hobby Aqueous. I have no idea what the difference is. I bought one of each of the Pink 19 to test as an undercoat for a red body colour. If anyone knows the diff, please post.

Aqueous is 100% non toxic, and the Acrysion this is what I found about it.
This is an epoch-making paint that can be used for both brush painting and air brush painting. Drying speed is faster than with the existing water based hobby colors, so work efficiency is improved dramatically.

Dupli-Color black lacquer & Tamiya white lacquer. The one with the black primer is the one that cracked all to heck.

Ah okay.  Never used Dupli colors primers - even though lot of folks have had success with it using automotive paints n such. I strictly use Mr surfacer primer. If I wasnt packing for my move I would test myself as I have few cans of the testors  extreme diamond dust. Something in the 3n1 testors didn’t agree with the dupli color or vice versa.

The Testors diamond dust is supposed to be a lacquer, yes. And I agree, experimenting on my kits themselves is an absolute no-no. The thing is, the other spoon, (different primer though), turned out just great, and even allowed for an additional coat of Tamiya clear red lacquer over the clear orange, which I very much like.

So what two primers did you use? Seems the one that did work is the primer you should use with this combo you’re doing.

As we are moving soon I seeing kits that I need and ordering them now, ready to pack up.

Fujimi Levin GT and Heller Citroen 2CV, the 2CV i hope to convert to a pickup. The Ebbro kit is pretty expensive and seems to be out of stock everywhere! No pictures as not accepted on here from fotki.

Currently moving myself still packing. I have a total of 11 XL boxes full of kits, and that’s not including the ones that are bigger than the box itself lol.

Even though I've been home from ACME for over a week, I'm just getting around to posting this. My event visiting history is chronicled with t-shirts. I am not part of the YouTube model car community, however I met Rick Zinck in the parking lot of the host hotel, and he gave me his shop card and his "trademark" skeleton. I was really excited to see SPLASH Paints listed as a vendor. I picked up his line up of AMT 2021 Bronco colours. I really like the two-part Cyber Orange. Since I only have one kit, looks like I will be getting a couple more. I really like Fujimi Enthusiast kits. This BMW 635 in the Schnitzer livery is really eye catching. Sadly the decals are almost always toast. My purchase had a set of Studio 27 Jagermeister decals included. I bought the Hasegawa Suzuki Jimny because my travelling partner, Peter, had one. This prompted me to get some improved wheels, which is where JPS Customs comes in. Great product and great to deal with. The other wheel/tire sets... I'm addicted. I picked up another can of Revell Spray Chrome and some Novus polishes. The Revell Chrome sells fast here in the Toronto area.

Besides the revell & few others.  ALL the Japan goodness 😍. Great stuff man, and that morris mini cooper is a very clean kit. Haven’t built mine yet.

  6. So I own Alclads matte coat, and I own testors dull coat. Haven’t used much of the dull coat, but the Alclads matte coat I tested on a painted spoon, and looked great, and dried perfectly fine. So used it on motorcycle frame 2 coats, and it’s been tacky for over 2 weeks. Some sections have took fingerprints, and looks rubbed off being shiny. I’m not sure what I did wrong, but should I re test or just use a new product? Not sure why it worked perfectly fine on the spoon test, and not the frame. I did use 1 coat on the spoon, and 2 coats on the frame.

Greg and Dusty, I think that probably everything Infini makes is great.  I know them from their PE sets for ships, some amazing sets.  I have their cutting grid mats and I highly recommend them.

Yeah I have the type A mat. It’s great if I need something smaller than Tamiya’s 1mm.

Those are thick. I have been using sanding sticks from a beauty supply store. The brand is Tropical Shine and they last a long time, providing they get washed when they get loaded up. Great for wet sanding too.

There thick cause there foam. Great for sanding on curves etc without losing the shape of the part.

  9. Yeah this brand of sand paper is great. I own all the types even the zebra type. The pads clog up fast sanding primer though, but so does Tamiya. You should try there sticky sheets that work for there photoetch mini sticks or basically anything you could stick em too. Great for getting into tiny areas, and I think go all the way up too 7k.

Here is a picture of the Mr Color Replenishing Agent, on the left. It contains the binding agents that Mr Color Leveling Thinner doesn't have. I too have brought many bottles of Mr Color paints back from the dead using this product. I'm sure that it will work equally well for Mr Surfacer as well.

I have the Mr Color Replenishing Agent too, and it works good with Tamiya as well.
