Dang it, missed my chance...put the banjo steering wheel in the '29 Ford Roadster

Yep, I tried but just couldn't get it to fit right...plus it's really fragile.

Yep, I thought I was posting it "Underglass"...don't know how to change it.

Every time I opened the cupboard, the '29 Ford Model A Roadster 2'n1 kit kept staring at me. So finally I gave up and built it. I had used the channeled chassis, tires and wheels on a previous build, so built the high boy version. Went with Replicas & Miniatures W-8 1/25 Wide Whitewall Tires Big & Little Skinnies w/bias-ply tread, steely wheels and used the kit hub caps. Also added Replicas & Miniatures RH-911 1/25th "Hallock" Style V'ed Windshield. What a beautiful kit! Everything fit and the detail was magnificent. Paint is 1954 Ford H Sea Haze Green from Scalefinishes. I saw a photo of a RatRod truck with a guitar shaped nose in a magazine. Decided it would be fun to build something like it in 1/25th scale. So here it is...started with the Revell 1941 Chevy PU, chopped and channeled the body, rebuilt the bed, added Replicas & Miniatures fuel tank, installed a Chevy V-6, tires from parts box added to kit wheels and scratch-built the guitar grill. Painted primer red and used Rustall to dirty it up, decals are from Steve. Inspired by " Gas Monkeys" build of a rear engined Ford Econoline pickup, I decided to build one of my own. Started with a Jimmy Flintstone resin body, scratch built chassis, Ford 428 w/Automatic tranny, resin copy of a V-drive from a boat kit and wheels and tires from parts box. Painted it a Ford Medium Lime Green Metallic from Scalefinishes. I've lived in Northern California since 1963 and have no desire ever to leave. Granted it's more expensive living here, but clean air, golf year round, two seasons (wet/dry) and being able to paint almost anytime you want are worth it. And Yes, NorCal and SoCal are two different planets...I'll take San Francisco over Los Angeles anytime!

Yep...looks great in real daylight! I think a few people messed their pants at DSC after seeing it.

Howdy Chris Dang did I really miss this build earlier! I heard you talking to John about the "Spaghetti Bender" during our visit, now I know what younger talking about! If they are up to your standard...I'll give you a set of my 1/16th scale wire wheels at the GSL. c'ya buddy

Thanx everyone for your comments. The model suffered a little travel damage on the ride home from Desert Scale Classic in Phoenix. Air Horn came loose and lost the drivers wiper blade...nuthin' that can't be fixed. c'ya

Saw this magazine and really liked the truck on the cover. I wasn't interested in doing a replica build of the truck, but used it as my inspiration. Just happened to have a resin cast "Jimmy Flintstone" '41 Ford COE, but wasn't going to sacrifice the bed from the Revell '37 Ford Pick Up. I used the '38 grill from the kit though. I did have a few '50 Ford pick up beds in in my stash, so used one of these. My buddy Steve loaned me a front-wheel drive transaxle from a kit and I made a mould of it for resin casting. Used the rear IRS from a Corvette donated by another buddy Raul. One of the joys of a Jimmy Flintstone resin body is you have a lot of resin to play with! Using photos and the '38 grill I ground away on the '41 Ford COE until I was happy. Headlights are from a '41 Willy', engine, exhaust, chassis, wheels and tires pulled out of my parts collection. thanks for lookin'
