  1. Good info. Thanks for sharing.
  2. Yeah, those are horseplop quality. Had one of these sheets and wouldn't put it in the bottom of a birdcage for fear of being charged with cruelty to an animal.
  3. There was a sheet of decals done for this car by an unknown maker, but it only covers the '61 Daytona car and the '62 car. Jarrett's team soon changed the fonts of the door numbers as well as the sponsor markings and body trim lines after the '61 Daytona 500 and those changes more fairly reflect the car that produced his greatest successes in winning his first drivers title.
  4. Good choice on the tires. Not the everyday go-to brand seen at most racetracks back in the day, but my favorite driver growing up - Norm Lelliott at Toronto's old Pinecrest Speedway - used M&H tires to carry him to a track championship in 1970. Although this photo is from the year before, you can see the Racemaster branding on the tires.
  5. Flamin' Nora. That's the bee's nuts. Well done.
  6. That body colour is really nice. The car was listed as being painted in Hudson's Southern Blue - which MCW has faithfully reproduced. But you've done well with your custom mix.
  7. In the wrong thread. This is the thread for NASCAR builds. Mind you, it looks good so far.
  8. Isn't Mike Herman the owner/operator of Powerslide decals?
  9. Nice looking build. In a season with so many different paint (wrap) schemes for Blaney, this one was easy on the eye. Great job capturing it.
  10. It looks great. Super details and paint finish. And it seems like you enjoyed the heck out of building it. Win. Win.
  11. He entered eight races in 1958 driving a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air. Won six, finished second in another. By some margin, the best winning percentage for one driver in one car in one season. Number 22, Edward Glenn Roberts Jr.
  12. So, no guesses yet to my Mercury-inspired trivia question as to which driver and which car enjoyed the greatest success rate in the events they entered over the course of one single season. Already gave one clue: didn't run a full season. Here's another: He's a Hall of Famer.
  13. Great build. Love this car. In 1973 season, this Mercury earned the second highest win percentage (18 races, 11 wins, 14 top 5s) of all time for a single car and driver. Any guesses which driver and which model car hold the record. It isn't Petty in '67. Like Pearson, our winner did not run a full season.
  14. There's also this thread from another reputable forum: Randy Ayers Nascar Modeling Forums :: View topic - Raybestos cars and trucks (randyayersmodeling.com)
  15. If this thread is threatening to become an all-purpose repository for internet joy and sorrows, I got Wordle in two three times in my last 10 plays. The Wordlebot is seething.
  16. No. There was a lot of variance in interior colours back then. An example: Earnhardt in the late 80's and '90s favoured a red interior paint scheme in his black cars. Same with Texas Terry Labonte in '84 -white and blue exterior colours but red interior. Petty ran with the traditional Petty blue throughout. Junior Johnson generally favoured black interiors to help hide his creative, rule-defying shenanigans. Thomas from Germany rolled with the scheme you're looking to create in his build of that car: Randy Ayers Nascar Modeling Forums :: View topic - Raybestos Brakes Buick (randyayersmodeling.com)
  17. My cheeky reference to 'perky' details aside, this is a fine build and a truly instructive one as well. I'm a big Fast Freddy fan and have both of his '63 and '64 cars on my production line. Thanks for sharing the details of your build.
  18. Seriously perky hood pins. Didja shoot those pics in cold weather?
  19. Them sprue cutter pics giving me flashbacks to the house demolition scene with Will Smith - and the cat - in the movie I, Robot. :-{]
  20. "Oooh, Bob Senneker's gonna be in this race," was a common reaction amongst us youngsters who followed the Southern Ontario late model stock car scene back in the early '70s. If Bob was showing up, our Canadian favourites would have to be bringing their 'A' games to have any chance of winning. And he made frequent appearances at the big-money feature races in our area. He was a classy driver and as much as we wanted our local heroes to win, he earned much respect and admiration for his smooth driving. To say nothing of his cool-looking cars. This is wonderful tribute to him. Well done.
  21. Well, you're absolved of guilt on the misspelt decals over the door. Those are MPR decals and they've spelled his name "Hurtubsie". Maybe it's an inside joke over a weight issue the driver might have had?
