  1. Thanks Tom, and thanks for your thoughts on a background.
  2. Ricky, thanks for your comments and for giving your thoughts about the backgrounds. Thank you Mario, a mix sounds like a good solution. I may try that. Thank you Doyle, about my model and your opinion on photo backgrounds.
  3. I've been busy and haven't posted a model for a while so thought I'd take some photos today. This one has Modelhaus bumpers, hubcaps, and hood ornament. The tires are original 1959 issue. I realize there are better tires available and sometimes use them but I like the looks of these originals. I guess I'm nostalgic. The trim, of course, is Bare Metal Foil. I really like the 59 Continentals and have four built. I posted my black Craftsman series one a few months ago. I'll probably build another at some point. I appreciate your taking the time to look and hope you like this one. I'm always open to comments ,questions, and suggestions, and appreciate them all. I would like to ask for some honest opinions. I know I still need to improve my photos but it has been suggested to me that my backgrounds may be distracting to some people. I usually try to include original boxes in the background because I like seeing them. I could use a plain background just as easily and would like to know what you all would prefer. I'll go with the majority. Thanks again for looking. -Rich
  4. Great job, Steven! The colors and detailing are perfect as usual. My 60 Edsel is just about finished and I have my 59 in progress, it's yellow and white.
  5. Rick, that's a fine looking model. You did a great job and the extra detail really adds to it. I've been wanting to build one of mine, I really need to get on the ball. -Rich
  6. Al, very nice job on saving this one. I think the color choice is perfect and the detailing looks great. What are the hubcaps from? They look close to what came with the kit. I built a few of these in years past but don't have them any more. I really need to get one. I like the more uncommon cars.
  7. I still enjoy opening an old kit from my stash and just looking at it. The smell of the plastic is still there and yes, different manufacturers had different smells, just like real cars. It really brings back great memories. -Rich
  8. I started building in 1959 at age 8. I think the Johan 59 Dodge and Oldsmobile were my first. I still have a few of my original builds and they have never been altered in any way. Here are 3 of them. The 62 Fairlane was purchased on our summer family trip home from Tennessee and I built it when we got home to Ma. I painted it with AMT lacquer spray and also used the same can to spray the 62 Chevy pickup my brother got on that trip. He was older but I was better at painting so he wanted me to do it. The 60 Lincoln and 62 Rambler are a couple more of my original builds. As you can see, I wasn't painting the chrome trim in 1960. -Rich
  9. Hugh, nice job on the Valiant. That shift lever is great! I love unusual looking cars and 4 doors so you got me on this one!
  10. Okay, here's another small scale model. How about a Hubley Tiny Toys 1960 Chevrolet pickup? This is a restoration I did. It's a rather crude model but built up it has a charm that has always made me like it. I built at least one in the early 60's. The white is just polished plastic. I didn't fill gaps, etc. I chose to make it a very simple build, just painting and detailing it. I decided not to restore the horse trailer at this time but may do it some day. I've included photos of my factory sealed NOS kit. This one came with a horse trailer and horses but they also made it with a boat and trailer. I've read that these are about 1:60 scale. The kits don't come up too often but built-ups are not too hard to find. Thanks for looking! -Rich
  11. John, if you didn't get one I can help. -Rich
  12. Mike, I certainly wasn't expecting this but I really like it. It was a great idea and looks so realistic. All the added details make it a very interesting build. Super build quality and now I'm craving some grilled hotdogs!
  13. Doug, we all have room for improvement. These two models look great to me and also the others showing in your photos. I really like 61 Pontiacs and have a 1:1 65 Mercury wagon so really appreciate your showing these.
  14. Mario, I think you did a great job on this one! The colors and paint look great as well as everything else. This one and the Futura are not the easiest kits to build and have come out looking this nice. Congratulations!
  15. Thank you john, I'm glad you like it. As always, thanks again Carl, you are too kind. Anders, thanks very much I appreciate your comment, Hector
  16. I like the other two but that T-bird really pops! It looks terrific so far.
  17. Thanks Larry. Thanks Bart, hopefully the Edsel will be done for next week. Chris, thanks very much. I appreciate it Danno. Thanks Mike. I saw very few even when they were new.
  18. Beautiful, and it's nice to see this thread come back to life.
  19. Even though this isn't the most accurate model, I've always liked it. There's just something about it and you did a great job on this one. color, stance, trim, all look great.
  20. Very nice work, Glen. I especially like the Lincoln. I wouldn't have guessed it's a Palmer.
  21. Hi John, This will be fairly short , I'll add more later. I found your old thread in which you showed the progress on your 56 Chrysler. Maybe I should just resurrect it with my info and photos. I saw (in that thread) your 56 Mercury that you said needs a rear bumper. If you still need one, I'm quite sure I have one, and also a tail light if you need that. I have a lot of spare parts for these 1/32 models. I've also cast some. As far as the reissue of the 56 Buick, I hope they don't do what Revell did with the 56 Ford reissue. They must have copied an original stock kit grille since the original grille mold was altered for the custom version. When you do that, the new piece can come out a shade smaller and that's what happened. The reissue grille doesn't fit quite right because it's slightly smaller. If they do the same for the Buick, (it's original grille was changed for the custom kit too, along with the Chrysler and Mercury), the reissue may have an ill fitting grille too. The 56 Ford reissue grille is almost 1/8 inch narrower than the original kit grilles. This is unacceptable for me and when I noticed it, I sold all the reissue Fords I had except for one. By the way, the reissue has the power windows. I have originals of both versions. The white Chrysler 300 is a Precision Miniatures 1/43 white metal model. It's one of the first models they made, early 80's if I remember, and came without the roof and body trim chromed so I foiled it. It's actually pretty accurate. I have over 2000 models on display and a basement full of NOS kits and diecasts, white metal models, cars, trucks, boats, planes, etc. I could just send you info and photos directly rather than posting everything. I don't want to take up a lot of space with a subject that will be of little interest to most people. - Rich
  22. Mike, those are all great looking, realistic models. And the mags look terrific too.
