I agree with baking soda and white glue. For a little extra sparkle add some marble dust (from an art store) or Woodland Scenics makes a great snow that comes in a large shaker bottle.

Great looking model well done! I must say the special effects on the base make the color look quite cold
  12. Rick Bennett added a post in a topic A.I.R. Pumps?

On the older cars they were engine (belt driven) to inject air into the exhaust to help lean burn hydrocarbons or unburned gasses and to help the catalyst. In the modern cars they are usually electric pumps that mainly work on cold start up, to inject air into the exhaust before the catalytic convertor and help bring the cat to operating temperature quicker.

Their secondary purpose is to collect moisture, make noise, and cost you money
  13. Rick Bennett added a post in a topic what was your first model

It was the Long John Dragster and I believe my younger Brother broke it. (How is that for old
  14. Rick Bennett added a post in a topic What's up with screen names?

I was nick named Rhino by friends decades ago and tend to use it as a screen name at places. However many times it is already been taken and so variations of it need to be used by me, such as old-rhino, rhinoQQ, old_rhino. Not my choice more of a result.
