  1. Did you at least upgrade the swaybars?
  2. They both look good! The Rallye is missing the gold trim and pinstriping, though
  3. Yeah, I haven't been around much lately (other priorities)... On the Monroe Handlers, regardless of what the box claims, the original Handlers were ALL 302 powered cars. The first one that Jack Roush actually built the engine for was punched out considerably, but it was not a Cleveland... And if anyone wants to assemble a "correct" one, let me know. I helped build one in 1:1 scale (and took it for a rip last week...DANG was that a blast!)
  4. Sorry I haven't been too active lately, or I'd have replied a while back... I talked to Mike last week, and he says he IS still casting, but he's been having some problems with his web site. I'll try to remember to post up when and if I hear more or I notice his site is up and running again...
  5. Try finding Mustang II parts, THEN tell me how hard it is to find foxbody stuff...
  6. Sorry I forced you to hit the link to a thread you were unable to determine the subject matter of by simply reading the title before you left-clicked on it...
  7. While I'm a Ford guy, and probably always will be, I find it ironic that VW has been mentioned as having a good product...You DO know that VW is a State-run auto manufacturer, right?
  8. And how many would be all up in arms if GM had been allowed to simply shut down due to their own incompetence and their lack of ability to compete?
  9. I just got the vacuum leak fixed on the Offy Dial-A-Flow intake, replaced half the lighting harnesses, and started preparing it for daily driver status...
  10. Looks good, and hardly resembles the bits I sent ya I'm glad someone could get some joy from it, as it would have simply been a carcass to pillage from in my bits box. Sadly, I've been distracted working on my 1:1, and haven't actually sat down at the modelling desk in well over a month...
  11. Not sure why I've not posted this... the Rat Snake 78 King Cobra Black on Black T-top 5.0/C4 (4-speed waiting to be installed) Offy Dial-A-Flow intake Holley 600 4bbl Power steering delete Flex-a-Lite electric fan 74 header panel and hood 225/50R15's on 15x7 Centerlines up front 295/50R15's on 15x10 Centerlines under the rear Trim by Duplicolor Metalcast Blue And yes, the fender badges are coyotes!
  12. And I'm pretty sure that Grabber Orange is still available at any automotive paint supplier.
  13. First thing to do: walk out and leave her there. Second thing to do: give her parents a swat upside the head for not teaching the spoiled little brat any social skills...
  14. You want to talk odd? My favourite car of all time is the 78 King Cobra. Modified, of course. Not just because I own one, though. I've loved the Mustang II since the first one I ever saw (which happened to be a 1:25 AMT "Python" kit, BTW), and has continued through almost twenty years of owning them. As it sits, mine is a modified King Cobra, Black on Black T-top, cammed 5.0 automatic (4-speed waiting to go in), 68 4-bbl intake and Holley 650 (probably swapping for an Edelbrock 289 Torker highrise intake), Flex-a-lite electric fan, 2.79 gears (4.10 Trak/Lok waiting to go in), 225/50R15's on the front, 295/50R15's on the rear, H4 headlight conversion, all-red taillight conversion, and currently in the middle of replacing the blacked trim with chrome and swapping to a 74 header panel and grille. And since I mostly build models of Mustang II's, this HAS helped me build better models. Any time I get stuck on how to make a model more "correct" I just have to look in the driveway, the garage, or the shop for perfect reference material...
  15. From a "reality" standpoint, I agree. With that much arc to the leafs, they'd have no flex at all. As the suspension cycles, the length of the spring needs to go somewhere, and the way its set up it would rip the shackles out on the first pothole or rock With a lot of lift like that, you'd probably also want to add some sort of bars to stop the axles from just twisting right off the perches the first time the gas pedal is touched SWEET looking truck, though!
  16. Something to think about, dimension-wise: I know from direct experience (I own or have owned both)that a 5.0 in a Mustang II (sub-compact) leaves more working space in the engine bay than an SOHC 4.6 does in a Crown Victoria (FULL-size sedan). I can (and HAVE) pulled the whole engine out of a Mustang II in less time than it took to pull JUST the driver's side cam cover off the Crown Vic. Don't forget to add at LEAST a set of sub-frame connectors (and probably a minimum 8 point cage) to that unibody Stang, or it'll go from box-fox to pretzel-box in one good jab at the skinny pedal. Oh, and if you are pulling the engine anyway, is it by chance a 5-speed? I could use the engine computer in my 89 4-banger. I just did a T5 swap (after the POS A4LD blew out the pump seal and dumped the entire load of ATF onto the nice warm catalytic converter at 130 kph)
  17. I'm not positive, but I recall being told that because of the UNGODLY width of the 4.6 (about the same as a 460!) you may need to pull the K-member, bolt the engine down, then drop the car onto it. Its actually easier to drop a 390 in there than a 4.6....
  18. Would have been a lot cooler if it had tackled any obstacles that I couldn't handle with my Mustang 4-banger or a bicycle... It put me in mind of a Bobcat that lost its bucket...
  19. Pretty sure the steering box will swap, Ed. As long as it bolts up in place and the Pittman arm is similar (or you can swap the arm as well), then you're good to go. One thing Ford didn't change much between lines is the steering boxes. Guys with Ranger and Bronco II rock rigs often swap in F250 steering boxes with no issues... Smokin' deal, too! 78-79 were the best looking years of the Ford trucks, and a stepside is ALWAYS cool! When do we get to see it "under glass"?
  20. I keep looking....and looking....but I can't see anything wrong! Looks good, man
  21. Wicked idea! Probably well beyond what I'd pay for a kit by the time its done, but so are 95% of resin kits anyway (because I'm a cheap F***er, not because of the price tag) I'd still be tempted though. '66 was an AWESOME year after all (my own vintage)
  22. I know I'm not a particularly active member here, but I've been around a few web sites... I definitely agree with Foxer on the word-links. I always found them annoying to deal with. Easiest would probably be to have a single forum that only the admin and mods can post in, with each thread starting as a link to the advertiser and maybe a short description (whatever they want). Keep it separate from the magazine itself, just to make sure none of the magazine sponsors gets upset about not being included in the forum list. Another way that doesn't get in the way of navigating the forums would be a small link at the top of each page (on the right, opposite the "Model Cars Magazine" header) that randomly scrolls through the list of advertisers each time the page loads. Each has its good and bad points, but neither of them is intrusive in any way...
