Stand alone engine kits
Ben replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I haven’t matched them yet. I thought the chassis was 1/4 scale too? -
This is a 1/24 Bruder Cat excavator that’s been detailed. I also have the 1/16 excavator and D11 bulldozer. Lots of people make working RC models out of those!

Frustrating wing mirrors LN8000
Ben replied to Shambles77's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The first thing you need to do is scrape the chrome from every point of contact so the glue will adhere properly. From there just glue two pieces together and prop them up to keep them square. After they dry, glue on the next piece and so on. another option is to bend a complete mirror bracket out of a paper clip (or any chrome wire of that diameter) then just glue the mirror head to it. -
Asking for or receiving a model as a gift ?

Growing up, my mom would get me kits for Christmas and my birthday. She always did good! -

Ahh I see. Be cool if the car was in the box. -
I love building and detailing but hate painting. Lots of projects have come to a stop because it was time to paint everything! LOL

Is anyone familiar with this exact kit? I’m wondering if the free Hotwheels car is in the box or a mail away offer? Is the Hotwheels the matching Bronco?

All the same chassis’ The mixer uses frame rail extensions that go over the rear of the frame.

Yeah, my bad on the wheels, I was thinking of Paul Sagehorn’s replica truck.

On the pilot episode the KW also had white five hole wheels on the rear. Several sources for those these days.

Actually, to build an accurate replica, you would start with a Revell W900 with 60” sleeper and then add the short hood from either the AMT or Revell W900 kits. You would then want the correct Alcoa tubeless wheels and tires from Jamie at moluminum.com and then the Cummins V903 motor out of an ERTL IH 4200 kit. Then use Jerry’s decals at Modeltruckin.com for the correct decals and Jameston at Scalefinishes.com for the Ivy Bronze paint.

You can use that code at any time. I’ve been using it for years. They offer free shipping sporadically. If you join the super saver club, you’ll get free shipping on any order over 100.00. So with the club and the code, a 100.00 order is only 85.00 shipped.

The shrink wrap issue boils down to the type of cellophane used and the temperature the kit is stored in. The hotter it is, the more the shirk wrap will constrict. on the open /sealed issue, hard to say. I like to leave kits sealed as it protects them and it’s better if I ever have to sell it. I do like to open kits though to put the tires in their own bag as well as the glass. The decals are inserted in the center of the instruction sheet.

Mack "R" vs Mack DM600
Ben replied to Luc Janssens's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Main differences are that the DM hood is shorter and it’s cab is offset to the right.
