It's still in the early stages, but it's getting there. I picked this up at a swap meet, just because I liked it. The chassis stinks, the engine is horrible, and the interior is just plain bad. I'm still having alot of fun with it though! I know the tool is older than I am, but it's kinda nice to step back in time to when my dad was building.

Those are just awesome. both are very nice, but I like the orange paint myself. Great work.

Lowering the Revell Mustang..........
Casey429 replied to DarylH's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
For the rear, I sawed about 1/8 from the top of the coil springs. I also has to sand away some of the top of the rear end housing, and what appears to be a bumpstop at the end of the driveshaft tunnel. As for the front, well, there is no suspension. I ruined the K-member trying to lower it, so I'm waiting for a new one from Revell. I got the wheels out of the Motor City Muscle release of the Revell '69 GT500. -

Pete 359 & Mack Superliner
Casey429 replied to a topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I like em' both. I definitley have to get me one of those Superliners. -
Bigtruck, If you're looking for compact equipment, here are some of the Bobcats that have been avaliable over time. Many of these are discontinued, but most can be found on ebay. I think the oldest one I have in the collection there is from roughly 1998. http://s47.photobucket.com/albums/f181/Cas...ruction/Bobcat/

My latest project
Casey429 replied to Rick's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Nice rig. Dad hauled many loads in a Transtar like this with his 26 ft Dorsey dump trailer. Ah, yes "The Stove". Cool build, one truck I wish would get reissued. -
Can't beat those pre painted kits, with some efort you can turn out a nice piece. I built the yellow version, but still want the green one. You've done this one justice.

If you have a junker or beater you'd like to share with us, this is the place to do it. I have a few, but am only going to share this one for now. This '67 Cyclone is taking its last ride. It was wrecked way back in the late 70's, hence the smashed lights and bent bumper. After it's owner stripped it and left it for dead, it sat and rotted away. The quarterpanels, rear frame rails and shock towes are rotten, making tis once fine ride junk. Off to the crusher (theres an idea!) it goes, carried by a Caterpillar IT18F. However, this car did not die in vain. I bought it for parts anyway. I used the engine and tranny in my '67 Mustang, and the rear end and leaf springs in my WIP '53 F100. I had intended on tubbing it and dropping in some sort of big block to make it a racecar after robbing the needed parts, but that never happened. I even went as far as opening the trunk, my first ever!

Fire Truck Pics
Casey429 replied to Casey429's topic in 1:1 Reference Photos: Auto Shows, Personal vehicles (Cars and Trucks)
Yeah, my favorite had to be this one. You don't see too many open top Mack R-600's, let alone blue ones. -
I have one of those VersaHandlers, and I reallly like it. It looks good with a junker or an engine on the forks. Not sure if this thing could actually pick up a car, but I know my Caterpillar IT18F will.

Ahhh...what a Hummer should be used for, working. And thanks to John, I see I'm not the only one that collects Bobcats .

Besides bulding models, working on real cars and riding 4 wheelers, I like to dabble in drawing. I am no Jairus Watson, but I'm confident in my work nonetheless. I figuresd I'd be best of posting it here, because they're trucks. These are some of my best, and the ones that I like most. Thanks guys. I just got back from being on vacation for a week, so that's why I haven't been around. Trailer Mechanic, the exhaust stack came from a Lindberg '34 Ford pickup. P.S. I don't know if you got it, but just in case, Tim, YGM.

W.I.P. - '57 Ford convertible mild custom
Casey429 replied to Lyle Willits's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Lookin good Lyle. I really like the button interior, it looks like it was made for this car. -
This is the reissue, produced about 2-3 years ago by Stevens International. It was limited edition, I think only 5000 made. This was run alongside the Autocar dumptruck. It sold fast, and I was only able to snag one before the LHS sold out.

Looks cool, but you might want to look at the camber on that left front wheel, could be dangerous  . So, who's going to build the Spacely Sprockets gasser? Correction, turbine-er.

(Nearly) Completed 1962 Willys Jeep PU replica
Casey429 replied to Zoom Zoom's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I love it, the grit 'n grime just...make it. -
And now, the bulldog of the fleet. It's mostly stock, except for the exhaust stack. The end was replaced with a car sidepipe to get a curved turnout. Its graphite gray and metallic maroon. I'm especially proud of the mudflaps. Thanks for lookin!

Although its way off from completion, I thought I'd share anyway. Is an AMT kit, heavily modified of course. It has wheels from the California Wheels '64 Chevy truck, a custom rearend using the 9" centersection and leaf springs from the AMT '67 Cyclone. Interior will be bucket seats mounted atop the base from the original bench, to get the correct height. It'll also have the stock dash, but I'm unsure of door panels. The frame uses 3/4 of the kit rails and 2 of the original crossmembers. The front frame clip is scratchbuilt and awaiting a Mustang II setup. This is the most it has ever been assemlbed, just for these pics. Power was going to be from a Boss 429 from "The Cat" street machine, but this is going to be changed to something more detailed. I was thinking the Boss 429 from Replicas and Miniatures Co. of Maryland, or the one from the R/M Boss 429 Mustang. I also posted it cause I need some ideas. Paint is either going to be Testors Custom Laquer Citrus Yellow (even though its green), candy green, or some sord of yellow-orange metallic. Also, where can I get a Mustang II front suspension, either kit or aftermarket? Feel free to throw in your 2 cents, I need some inspiration to get this thing done.

How old are you??
Casey429 replied to KT EASTMAN's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You feel like the young one? I'm only 16. -
Hot off the bench from an AMT kit. I built it to depict a clean daily driver thats seen 11 years of PA weather. It's also built to represent something a 16 year old kid (such as yours truly ) might own. No, I don't really have one, but this is what I'd like. I scratchbuilt a K&N type intake setup and a dual exhaust. I used the Holley valve covers too, cause after 11 years, some shiny new parts are in order. The only change I'd make is four wheel drive, a necessity here in wintertime, but I don't have a Revell '80 Bronco to scrounge from. Paint is Rust Oleum Laquer with no clear, which actually turned out good.
