Just joined a couple of days ago and thought I would take a few minutes to introduce myself. As my screen name indicates I am a minister, which at times detracts from my modeling time. I began building with an AMT '40 Ford Coupe Trophy Kit in 1959 and built continually until sometime in '84. I was career military at the time and got tired of moving my 200+ collection so I sold everything, except for a few tools. Back around '98 I was at a Michaels and found a Jeff Gordon Championship Monte Carlo and a Lindberg '66 Chevelle both on sale for $5 each. I looked at them and thought I could kit-bash them and build a copy of the famous Smokey Yunick, black & gold #13. Anyway both of those kits are still in their boxes along with almost 200 more waiting their turn on the bench. I primarily build '60-'70s drag cars - the Golden Years of drag racing; short track circle cars, an occasional custom (mild or full), and the obligatory muscle cars of the '60s. I do have a few imports in my collection and several pick-up kits - I need some way to get my racers to the track. I am 59 years old, have no kids and looking forward to retirement so I can build full-time (like that is going to happen - "Honey do..."). That is who I am and I am looking forward to sharing my work with you all and sharing information in the process.
