Back to the plane I'm not totally happy with it, but it's starting to look like something (One of the complaints people have about this kit is that the scale is of...which doesn't become apparent untill you start to add properly scaled decals) This was my first time using a pinwash, and I did a light chalk detailing over top Not done yet, but she's got her feet under her again

Yeah, the starfix isn't the greatest kit, but I am not looking to build a 100% correct replica I have no idea how old this kit is, or where it falls in the production run, but it could be the molds were just getting old Perhaps what bothers me the most about is is the lack of swastikas on the decal sheet I guess if they had put an ace of spades on there I could pretend to be making a 9 staffel jg53 plane, but there don't seem to be any real markings on the decal sheet

figured id share this one with you guys perhaps i can get some tips i always loved the way the german planes looked so i bought this 1/48 109 kit it is a pretty basic kit, not a whole lot of detail and it require a LOT of sanding to make things line up not a big deal, i mostly bought this kit to try my hand at painting it, so we will see. i hope to have her in primer by the end of the day

PT-109
diymirage replied to diymirage's topic in WIP: All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
Sorry for the late response I guess you could make it a 73, the main issue would be the stand, it has "PT 109" cast into it This is the decal sheet that comes with it -

Got the top painted I used Vallejo paint, but had a heck of a time thinning it to flow through my airbrush Not sure if I want to paint the hull the same way -

Got the bottom primed The top will get show with an airbrush, base primer in white, accents, shades and depth in black That will be the first time trying that one a vehicle so im interested to see if it will be worth the effort -

Thanks I bet when that thing is painted it will look like it belongs there I finished the small parts and all is glued in place, save the parts that will get different paint (guns, raft, floatation devices) Ill get some primer on tomorrow and the really need to decide on a color The wife likes green, so I'll probably go with that -
Picked up this reissue of the old Lindberg kit, mostly because I build it once ages ago and thought I'd build it again This kit is marketed as the one JFK commanded, but I have no plans of building a replica of that one There is quite a bit of flash on here, and at some point it was an RC kit, so there were two holes that needed to be addressed I'm particularly pleased with the way I fixed the front hole, that post looks like it's part of the anchor windlass and it belongs on there I also drilled out the fresh air vents which were very crude My biggest issue now is, will I paint it Grey, as delivered l, or paint it green as they were painted in the field ? (Two different 109 kits, only put up for color comps)

it is 1/35 scale it is a pretty cool kit, what really sold me on it was the crew you can build it with two soldiers in full battle array, or one slightly more laid back soldier, bringing home the bacon the odd thing is that one of the drivers has his hands molded to the handle bars, and one does not so im going to have to leave the handle bars loose if i want to be able to switch out between the two

Maybe he meant to say he scratches the build? -
well, i decided on a lighter color, vallejo blue grey pale 70-905in part because i wanted something lighter, and mostly, because i have that paint and it allows me to paint parts in stages and not have to worry about mixing it right each timebecause of the way the engine sits in the frame, i decided to brush that(this is just a first coat, but at least the engine is home)so far, i am not impressed with the quality of this kitthe amount of flash is quite large, and i have broken two parts allreadyin my opinion, because of the way they were cast on the spruceso many parts have the little nubs on them, i would really have liked to have seen a few of those nubs on these little pieces to protect them(The fenders and front fork are just mocked up for a visual...kinda looks like a orange county chopper like this...don't worry, we'll fix that)
