  1. still a work in progress...but I always wondered how cool it would be if they painted the X wing fighter to look like a real rebel vehicle

(the kit is an older snapkit, empire strikes back, I think)

I still have quite a bit to do, mostly detail painting and final assembly, but she is close enough to tell

really the only big change that needed to be made was the opening up of the motors, to fit the turbine wheels (stock on the right, modified on the left) about 30 minutes with the dremel did the trick

the turbine wheel came from a 69 buick Riviera, and will be stripped and repainted steel

the only other modification I made was cut out a bunch of clutter from the body to allow the flag decal to sit flush

on second though, I should have cut a LOT more and put a whole new panel on the back, but I think it worked out

  2. Because I don't have any room for a display that would be that size. From the beginning I planned to hang this thing from the ceiling.

I guess I always knew that most of the interior would be impossible to see (especially hanging from the ceiling) but it was fun and interesting to paint detail it anyway.

shoot, just make a dio with only the latter part of the tail then (like that part was blown off and fell down)

you did detail the tailgunners turret no?

then drilled open some casted schocks out of the partsboxes .. glued in the grey rod

ik heb eerst 2 kit schokbrekers open geboord en daar de grijze stang in gelijmd

funny, I hadnt noticed your Dutch (never do pay a whole lot of attention to the avatars)

    Waar kom je ergens vandaan?

ik ben zelf Jaren geleden uit de Brabantse klei getrokken

  4. the dash I need looks like this

I need it for an AMT 71 duster

but the one that is in there is a rally version, the only kit I know of that has the dash I need is the pro street cuda your redoing

I'm sure I could modify the rallye dash, but swapping is so much easier

  5. I would, but they wouldnt fit the tires. And thats about as wide as I can go w/ the stock suspension/stock kit parts

I do have an AMT '71 Duster waiting in the wings with a resin '70 grille, bench seat, and 727 automatic. Trust me I've already started on it lol

those are all the parts I have lined up to build a model of ginger, only she is running a 408 LA now

  6. what I like about them is the way you modify them with what you got to work with

some of us have been in the hobby for so long, we have boxes and boxes of parts, and so we would never think to build side view mirrors out of spruce (if you were to touch up the chrome with some silver paint I might not have even been able to tell that's what it is)

the paint on the Baldwin looks way better then the paint on the GTO, looks like your getting the hang of that too

  7. those floormats are a nice touch

when I first saw the flocking on the floorboard I didn't think it would work out

but once there is some paint on there, it looks really good

on a side note, what does that 1:1 run, a 400?

  8. Looks good so far..... Similar to one I built many years ago...

    same here

someone had a pickup truck build off one day, it had to be a RWD V8 fullsize pickup...so I jokingly said I would mod a bug to enter in and they called my bluff

I can post some pictures if your interested
