  1. Blunc, Actually, Gregg was in attendance. The managing editor Darryl did take photos. Along with a MCM staff member also taking photos. So, something unusual this time.
  2. 3-d printing is a great process. Note, 3-d printing is just that - 'printing'. Layers and layers and layers.......................on top of layers to create the object. These layers are visible and noticeable to the touch. This means that before a 3-d part can be used for resin casting or as a finished product (ready for primer and paint) all parts need to be sanded SMOOTH. Imagine sanding all the layers lines on a 1/25 scale bumper/grill for a 1963 Chevy Impala !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That will be a fun process getting inside all the mesh grill patterns to create a smooth finish without any damage.............. A model car body will be a much easier task. These are the negative aspects of 3-D printing. Maybe someday the 3-d creators of the printers will resolve a way to eliminate the layers edges. Until then, prepare to do a lot of sanding and finish work. Any 3-d experts out there? Please respond with your expert experiences and advice to us. Thanks.
  3. Viewed a copy of the Contest annual 2016 today (contest shows from 2015) and was disappointed. Not in the quality of all the great models pictured, but 6 less pages in this issue (2015 had 84 pages). Mainly disappointed that no pictures from the 2015 LLC NNL contest (Lower Left Coast - Carlsbad, Ca - August, 2015). I attended the show last year and all the contest model cars were amazing. MCM, why was the LLC NNL omitted from the 2016 issue? Thanks.
  4. Rickcaps55, Thank You for the 'link' to Missinglink. Just received the Maverick/Torino dog dish hubcaps/trim rings. Absolutely perfect. They are not plated, but I will paint them a brushed aluminum and BMF the trim rings. Emailed several times with Kevin @ ML. Great business and communications. Thanks.

  9. Any resin casters make these Torino dd hubcaps and trim rings (1/25 scale) Thanks
  10. I have also used the Alumilite starter kit and agree with OLDCARFAN, the rtv rubber molds cure too hard and makes removing the parts difficult. Now using the Smooth-On starter kits. The blue RTV rubber molds are flexible and strong. Review the Smooth-On web site as they offer different strengths of RTV rubber. The S-O starter kit is excellent and includes a HUGE instruction booklet and DVD video. https://www.smooth-on.com/products/pourable-silicone-starter-kit/ https://www.smooth-on.com/distributor-regions/canada/
  11. Is billygooche decals (sold at the eb auction site) still in business. I have purchased many great sets of decals from them. Have not seen any listings for the past 2-3 months. Thanks.
  12. No Model Cars Magazine at the B&N in Oceanside, Ca,, Rancho Bernardo, Ca ,, Escondido, CA. Asked at the customer service desk = do not carry the magazine. I recently sent in a subscription payment. I hope my first issue is Dec 2015, #200 (the current issue).
  13. First, return the ab and compressor to Harbor Freight. It is a cheap setup. The return time is within 90 days? Visit the web site for TCP Global (Tri City Paint). Lots of great information and airbrush/compressor packages. Something to give you an idea of what to buy. This is the Paasche VLS dual airbrush system I have. Been using it since 2006. The compressor includes the air tank. It is QUIET and kicks-in (cycles) at long intervals. http://www.tcpglobal.com/ABD-KIT-VLS-SET-T.html?sc=113&category=2776787#.Vqf1cfkrKM8 Also visit the Paasche web site to research airbrush's, compressors, accessories. http://www.paascheairbrush.com/ Airbrushing takes practice. Lots of great advice in the previous posts. Harbor Freight return policy http://www.harborfreight.com/customer-service-return-exchange.html
  14. Just a few kit suggestions for reissues or new tooling. Monogram Uncertain T Revell Dodge Revellion Funny Car 1960 Dodge Lancer 1960 - 62 Plymouth Valiant Revell 1966 Bel AIr 2-door sedan (modified 1966 Impala tooling) What are you suggestions?
  15. What month/months is the current MCM issue available? Last issue purchased was May/June 2015 - #195. Thanks

  18. Dear Don and Carol, My sincere condolences to you and the Holthaus family. Sincerely, Larry
  19. Visited NAPA the other day. They will not order Plastikote. Duplicolor only. Contacted Plasikote (Valspar), but Lowes does not have any requests to carry the 'PK' paints. Finally decided to order a few cans online from Amazon. Will replace the spray-nozzles or decant the primer (if needed). I found one location in National City, Ca that carries Plastikote, but it's a 90 mile drive.......TOOOOOOOO far. Amazon is closer and Free shipping.
  20. Hello Ron, Beautiful rebuild of the 68 GTO. Any chance you could post a copy of the instructions sheet for the 68 GTO. I am also in the process of a rebuild. Thank You.
  21. In my search to find Plasti-kote primers (T:235,236,237 and red oxide), i found this old post. If you live in the SoCAL area, Car Quest NO LONGER sells Plasti-Kote paints. New company owns CQ and now they only sell Duplicolor. I contacted Plasti-Kote and they had no retail referrals. Duplicolor must be offering all the auto parts stores a penny on the dollar to buy their paints. Plasti-kote is a great primer and it's a huge loss that it is not available.
  22. thanks for the info. Yes, all sold-out already. I did find one picture on the internet, but it was more of a angled front-to-back view. Need the straight-on side views. Hopefully someone has the model and will post a couple pics. Thank You.
  23. Anyone have/built the R&R 1970 Chevy Impala wagon? Please post pic's (left/right side views ) of the body. Thank You.
  24. Hello Gregg, If i submit a subscription to SCM this week, will it start with the First issue or the typical 6-8 weeks before a new subscription starts/mailed and i would get the second or third issue. Thanks.
