  1. Our local dealer brought one up on a show-and-tell. Got to take it down the road.....Very impressive! While it was here, I shot close to 400 pics of it, and 6 pages of sketches/measurements!
  2. I've ended up scrapping the first set of fenders, they weren't long enough. My local dealer is supposed to get another one towards the end of the month, so I hope I can double check the next set!
  3. Heres one I need to finish. Made stock steel wheels for it, and added a few details. As another note, the engine bay/inner fenders on the kit is completely wrong.
  4. I've thought about molding the other grills. I mastered a bunch of underhood stuff too, if I can find them!!
  5. There were four versions of the Scout kit. The first was a 76, with stock bucket seats, and single exhaust. It was orange on the box, and molded in orange. Then it was released as a 77-79 in two versions. One was stock,(molded in yellow, and yellow on the box, if I remember correctly), and an "off road" version. The O-R version had racing seats, a roll bar, headers and side dump dual exhaust. It was green on the box art, but molded in red. The fourth version was an SSII. It had the racing buckets, rollbar, etc, as well as the SSII grill. It was blue on the box, molded in tan. The decals also varied from kit to kit. What you are seeing on the outside of the interior is the outline of the SSII door cut outs. The sink marks are on every kit I've ever seen. Don't know the full design history on the kits, but, in working daily on the 1:1, there is no way to modify a Scout II body into a first generation Scout (61-71). Hope that helps!
  6. I wish I could buy it!!! Taking it for a test drive was all I could afford!!! 525hp Cummins and 13 speeds, got up to 85 fairly quick. Drove better than most late model cars! If I can get it right, I will be casting them.
  7. Thanks for the encouragement. I realized after I had driven this one, I had to build one!
  8. Here are a couple of trucks I'm working on. The first is a 1600-1900 S-Series. This is a "I" series cab for the newer Paystars, and the 9000 series. This is a "NGV" cab. It is used on 4000, 7000, ProStar, and LoneStar Chassis. Here is the NGV cab mocked up with the start of a LoneStar hood.
  9. IH had a V800 V8. Its in most of the Ertl IH truck kits. Also IIRC, IH had ALL engines in their trucks painted red until the mid 70"s, regardless of engine builder.
  10. Thanks for the comments. Its a toss up as to which one to work on. Lately its this one or the Mack/Bronto.
  11. Heres a build I've been working on for a while. The truck was used by the Toronto Fire Department in the 70's I found blueprints for the Hy-Ranger, and have scaled pictures for the rest.
  12. The frame size depends on how the truck is Spec'd. IH S-series frame were 11",with an optional 12" frame and various reinforcments available. Most other builders are 11 or 12". I have used Plastructs 1/2" I beam for a couple of frames, you just have to trim the flanges from one side.
  13. Also, make sure that your splice plates are exactly the same length, or else one side of the truck will be longer than the other!
  14. It seems to work for me??? If you still can't get on, send me a message!
  15. No not yet. I made a mold of it several (close to 10) years ago, and at that point it had flaws in it. I have remastered it, but still have to make the molds. I only have to finish the interior (2 versions, depending on chassis) and the dash to have all of the masters done. Then I'll have to do a windshield. So, its a ways off yet. I'll keep posting updates.
  16. Thanks! I have several 1:1 trucks to use for refrence. So I hope I get it right!
  17. Just thought I would show everyone my site. I'm leaning toward fire/emergency vehicles at the moment, but, I've just released a Mack Mc/Mr, and an IH 4000 series cab. I have several other cabs in the works so stay tuned!! Visit My Website Heres one that I have in the works.
  18. Someone else that loves Cargostars??? I happen to have 4 of them and a CO-Loadstar! You guessed right that I am working on a Cargostar. I have the cab and small parts mastered, just have to finish the interior. Heres the first couple of cabs I cast. I haven't posted this in the Trucks section yet, I thought I'd start with here.
  19. Wow! I subscribed to Navistar Model News. Still have them somewhere. I always liked Pinecrests stuff. Some of the trucks I'm casting are based on older resin kits.
