  1. Excellent work! Love the colors.
  2. Great styling ideas, looks terrific!
  3. Wow, the amount of detail is truly astounding and the whole project is mind-blowing! Post more of your projects when you get the chance.
  4. This was one of the hardest models I've tried to photograph, probably because the color is a dark pearl blue and the rally stripes also have a pearl clear coat. In my experience, photos don't really show the pearl effect that well. These outdoor shots are the best I could get. This was one of those problematic paint jobs, but I really wanted to finish it because I like the looks of the stripes. The suspension was lowered about three scale inches, the wheels are painted titatnium with a chrome lip, and the intake manifold has a carbon fiber decal (with a lot of Micro-Sol):
  5. Great looking project, mind-blowing details!
  6. Here's the engine for this one. It has a carbon fiber decal on the intake manifold (applied with plenty of Micro-Sol) and Ford racing decals. All the decals are from the SVT Ford Focus kit:
  7. Thanks guys, here are some photos of the chassis, engine, and interior that were taken during the build process:
  8. Excellent work, well done!
  9. Thanks, it's the Revell '37 Ford Sedan kit. It's still available from some of the internet stores.
  10. Yes that's what happened! I don't really mind it this way, though.
  11. Thanks guys. Here is a pic of the wheels. The lip was masked and the spokes were painted with titanium metalizer and then flat laquer. The inner wheel wells were opened up a bit to lower the stance:
  12. This painted body has been sitting in the kit box for about a year and a half. The blue paint had been buffed off of one of the fenders, and today I finally got around to repainting it. I was able to mask the roof and the trunk and repaint the blue sections. I then repainted the whole body in clear, and the color matched really well so I guess I'll finish this one. I'm glad I was able to save it because it took a bit of masking and painting to make it.
  13. Here's a '37 that's been slammed and painted in the "true fire" style:
  14. Here's a bottom view: Photos of this finished model are in the "under glass" section of the forum.
  15. The back of this one is actually a bit higher (~1mm) than the red sedan and the blue/white sedan that I did a while back, so that may make the front look lower because of the slight rake. I'll post a pic soon. On all of these the exhaust had to be shaved down a bit to go over the axle, but there's room between the axle and the floorpan. It sounds like you've gone even lower on yours, which looks great so far BTW.
  16. The chassis has been notched to allow the rear axle assembly to sit closer to the floorpan, the top of the diff was shaved, the rear shock mounts were repositioned closer to floorpan, and the front springs were cut. The exhaust was shaved to clear the rear axle, and the tips were shortened and drilled. Here are a couple of pics showing the ride height:
  17. Thanks guys, here's the kit's engine with an Edelbrock air cleaner and valve covers from a Chevy pickup truck kit. I opted for the Edlebrock pieces instead of an engine cover on this one. The engine, drivetrain, and chassis will be Tamiya Light Gunmetal:
  18. I agree that the '37 has great lines, especially lowered. Similar lines to a Porsche 356 in a way. BTW, I changed my avatar so that I wouldn't seem so redundant.
  19. Thanks guys, I decided to go with a leather colored interior since I think it goes better with the paint scheme. This color is a mix of Model Master Leather acrylic and Tamiya Bright Orange:
  20. This project is looking super! Keep uo the fantastic work.
  21. OK, last tweak is done. Since I needed one more clear coat on the fenders and hood I snuck in some white licks on the front of the car, (but the camera washes them out and mixes them with reflections.) This scheme isn't really traditional true fire, but a combination of true fire with a white/yellow/orange/red fade from front to back.
  22. Nice colors, and great job on that grille, that's a lot of work.
  23. Those wheels really compliment the overall look by adding some toughness to the smooth. Looks excellent!
  24. I touched up the flames by using black to cut back certain licks, and I also added some more clear orange and red to the trailing sections of the driver's side to match the other side of the car better. The weather must have been right for good paint chemistry because the clear coats went on like we always hope they will! Now it's on to the chassis lowering process.
