Simple, cheaper, effective.. this took 15 minutes.

For a stiffer sander, use tongue depressors, and instead of foam tape, use Contact Cement.

    Cheers

Awesome idea, will try this out for sure..... Thanks for sharing...

I love scrounging around for everyday items for model building. Years ago I had a large projection tv take a dump. Took out all the guts and have a lifetime of wires and do dads. Right after that I used a lot of those items to super detail my mpc/amt snow speeder.

    The possibilities are endless....

Had a 6 foot long cellphone charger cable go bad on me so I decided to cut out the 4 wires out of it..... That's enough plug wire to last me for quite a while..... ?

 That is me, my apple phones always goes thru the charging cables, as slow as I build mine will last a lifetime....

Nicely done. Your springs look good, but it might be better and easier to wrap the wire around a properly sized screw.

I think you may be right, I have seen it done for just regular car springs, I will give that a try the next time I make some. At least they will have the interval between the spring itself. The way I have done it I have to pull the wound wire apart to look more like a spring, which does not have a uniform look to it every time.

I use those fake credit card size pieces of plastic you get with junk mail..... Cut them to the size you need for the job, and toss it in the trash when your done.... ?

    I got a million of them.... ?

I wonder if there's a "tools of the trade" thread posted on this site... If not, we should start one.... ?

I do that quite often, great idea. Best thing its free, and keeps some of the junk out of the land fill. Just a little bit.....

I was checking out some junk mail, car dealer promotion with a light fob that showed you got the winning number (yea right).  I pulled the unit apart, it's just one LED light, but am contemplating the use of fiber optic that came from a party accessory.

Nevertheless, will keep an eye on this topic.

Are you serious? Not to long ago I chucked one of those ads with the fob. Now I will for ever keep that Larry H. Miller does it all the time...... Thank you  for sharing will be looking at the fob possibility next time one comes along.

  7. at harbor freight for another 150.00 can get a lathe, now I am not knocking the tool itself, I have seen one on instagram, would love to actually own one. I think in my own opinion of course is I do not see what makes it $400.00. its like a dremel with a blade.  Probably will come down by half in the next year and a half.
