  1. It's very unorganized but I started with the VW's as I have more than I care to admit on the PL Beetle. I needed several for a diorama but I exceeded what I planned for. The Der Beetle Bus were Ollie's buys for different versions I've found on the web. I have no excuse on the Deals VW van and the Baja Humbugs.
  2. Agreed. If someone went out of their way, especially at a store I get their name and e-mail home office. When my Dad's dementia was ramping up, he had two walk away moments in one day. The second (and final time), it was a warm spring evening and dad dressed is was almost winter and went for a walk....down the entrance ramp of a two lane highway! Police called me and I went to go get him. He was in the back of a squad car and I had a brief chat with the officers (the highway sits on the corporation line of two cities and there was a car from each city). I explained what was going on, thanked them both of corralling him and took him home. Next day, I sent a thank you to the Chief of both cities calling out what their officers did and took that 'protect and serve' beyond the norm. The smaller neighboring town sent back an acknowledgement and his appreciation for taking the time to let him know. He said he would pass it along as well as note it in her file. My home town Chief sent back a 'thanks'.
  3. A co-worker had her knee replacement surgery yesterday and came through with flying colors. She had the other knee done a couple years ago. Her husband sent us a video as she was already up walking and able to bend it to sit in a chair. I'm heading that way in the future as the Dr who scoped both of mine told me I will likely need it due to degenerative arthritis in knees. Bad knees come from my maternal grandfather....but I also have his hairline (he passed at 90 years old with a full crop), so I'm willing to stay its a fair trade.
  4. The wife had a surgery right after Thanksgiving which entailed cutting out a part of her skull so they gave her the serious pain meds. Walgreens pushed me to get the Narcan Rx the Dr wrote for too. She is a nurse and worked many years in the ER. Don't have to worry about her OD'ing or abusing it.
  5. Forgot about this pick up.... Parts are in a ziplock bag but appears complete
  6. February adds..... Cadillac appears to be complete...molded in a beige/dirty white color Monogram Cadillac and Rolls sealed
  7. With the correct Rx, it's a breeze. Three of my four had to be broken up to remove them. Thank to Percodan I recall going in on Monday and next think I knew it was Tuesday. My mom said I did everything the dentist told me to do and even thumbed through my Hot Rod Magazine that came that day.
  8. Just a heads up this one does NOT end well.... A co-worker and her husband adopted this little sweety from the local animal shelter almost a year ago. She was abused as a pup and found abandoned tied to a telephone pole. The shelter fostered her and got to see what some of her fears were but she started to gain confience. My co-worker adopted her and named her Floppy as she would just plop down instead of sitting. She went to obdience school and shined like a star. She got play dates at doggie daycare a few times a week. I went over to their house a couple times to help with some of the trainers asks to help Floppy over her fears. (anything for a dog in my world!) Last weekend, she had two incidents of attacking her feline roommates which she never did before. Monday, she went to the vet to figure what was going on. Vet gave them an Rx to help take the edge off but on Tuesday morning, she went to doggie daycare and went after another dog she always played well with. Vet told my friends that it was Floppy's best interest to put her to sleep. Wednesday the vet said the catscan showed a tumor in her head caused her aggression and it would have only gotten worse. He suspects it was from repeated haed trauma when she was a pup. Floppy just turned one in September and April this year would have been her one year anniversary of her furever home. RIP Floppy. Humans failed you but the last year of your too short life you were well loved.
  9. My sons school change systems at the start of the new calendar year and a mysterious charge appeared on his account. Upon digging into it, the $25 charge was for his parking pass. Wait....it wasn't on his account first semester so where did this come from. He went to the office and explained what happened and they asked him to bring in his receipt. I made a photocopy of it as clearly the school lost their copy or too lazy to look for it. Two weeks later, the charge wasn't removed. I reached out to the Assistance Superintendent (he usually sends out school wide notices) and addressed the situation. Three more weeks and three e-mail volleys of promising to look into it/resolve it and still no action. Last night I e-mailed the Superintendent starting the e-mail with an apology that I'm sorry it has to be escalated to this level but I'm getting nothing but empty efforts on the part of the high school office. I woke up this a.m. to an apology from the Superintendent and a promise it would be handled and the principal will call me. No call but the erroneous charge is gone. You can delegate authority, but you can't delegate responsibility.
  10. Finally a national day I can fully support!!! Managed to dodge Covid until late last year and it hit me when Jimmy Buffett passed away. Upon recovery, I properly memorialized him!
  11. Glad you're okay but I presume your vehicle was less fortunate.... My wife bagged one years ago coming home on the highway from her night shift at the ER. No time to swerve and put the right front fender into Bambi hind legs. Shaken but fine.
  12. Always had a thing for the odd/unusual subject matter. Picked this up F/S for less than $20 at a local toy store
  13. Got to see the only part of the SuperBowl I cared about.......
  14. A local radio statio scrapped all programming and played a tribute to him all day yesterday. Due to overwhelming response, they continued it today.
  15. Today would have been my mom's 85th birthday.....had she taken her blood pressure meds instead of just chucking them in the dresser drawer. It's really a bad subject this year as she would have been around for the birth of her first great grandchild this past November. Everyone in her mom's family lived well into their 90's and dad's family lived into their 90's. She was beyond annoying when I was dating about wanting a grandchild to the point I repeatedly asked her to stop! She eventually did get two grandsons and was good to both of them, but she missed out on a lot because of her actions.
  16. Glen Campbell's last song (I'm not gonna miss you) is a narrative from a person himself who had Alzheimers. Listen to it and it will tell you what you're dad no longer could. It's especially hard when the child becomes the parent. Time for you to decompress...he is at peace.
  17. Thoughts and prayers with you and your family. I lost my father six years ago to this horrible disease after he spent the last two years of his life in a nursing home after he couldn't live alone. The things that come out of their mouth will shock you. Be sure to take care of yourself!! I can look in the mirror today and see how that aged me.
  18. I didn't pay close attention to the box art as the chrome tree in this one has the turbine wheels.
  19. Monthly swap meet.... Monogram Luv Stepside......missing rims but otherwise complete MPC 1978 Camarp.....missing the race car pieces (won't use them anyway). I know the 1981 is being re-released this year, but I like the '78 hoodscoop and fender vents. There was another 1978 Camarp (Savage), but that green its molded in steered me to the white one.
  20. I've been avoiding adding to the stash and seriously looking at thinning out what I know I will never build....until I stumbled on a somewhat local auction for an original Revell Herbie. I kept telling myself 'no' but ended up caving and throwing a one time bid. I surprised to be the high bidder but even moreso when I wasn't sniped. I don't know if these would have been bagged inside but it appears complete and was either carefully restacked after opening or never removed from the box.
  21. My late Brian was half husky and hated the cold. I would shovel a path off the deck, down the steps and half way down the yard. Unless I went out with him, he would go about half way across the deck, step off the path and 'complete his transaction' being first one back at the door to go in.
