  1. Thanks for the help guys! The turned pulleys and electrical tape look nice. I don't have a lathe but I can punch out plastic disks which should come very close to the real deal. After seeing the pictures, I think I'll give it a shot. Mike
  2. I've been having a heck of a time making the molded on belts look realistic. I'm working on a Silver 92 from the AMT K100 Aerodyne at the moment. I was thinking about punching out some new pulleys and using rubber bands as belts but that may be more work than it's worth. If anyone has some ideas or tips they'd care to share, I'd certainly appreciate it. Mike
  3. My favorites are the KW K100 Aerodyne and the T800. I've liked the K100 since I saw BJ & the bear as a kid but today, I can't stand that paint job. It's still an awesome truck. In fact, I'm currently building the AMT kit. An '07 or so T800 is just a fine looking truck to me. It's on my build list :-). Mike
  4. Thanks for that. I was hoping there was enough for at least two trailers per roll. Either way, they're pretty cheap so I'll order several rolls. Mike
  5. Anyone know the length of the roll from Line-O-Tape? I emailed them a week ago but have not received a reply. Thanks, Mike
  6. Please add my name to the list! I'd love to have the KW Aerodyne and actually bid on one not too long ago but, of course, got out bid. If they were re-issued, I'd get all three tractors and a trailer for each. Mike Winn Albuquerque, NM
  7. Thanks for clearing that up. I have not found any pictures online showing a real truck with such a long WB. I'm building a short WB kit and it gives me a reason to do some hacking. Mike
  8. Thanks for the help guys. I'm completely new to trucks & truck modeling so please bear with me as I try to get things right. I'm definitely going to get both resin sets but I'm not sure which kit I should start with. I'd prefer a Revell kit as I hear they're more detailed. Mike
  9. I'm planning my next project and need some help identifying this truck: http://www.wipp.energy.gov/Photo_Gallery_Images/Transportation_photos/Truck2.jpg I doubt that it's available in kit form so I'm looking for any pointers on what kit to start with and if there's a conversion available. I'll also be scratchbuilding the trailer and Trupact II containers, so if anyone knows of a good source of photos or drawings, I'd appreciate it. I almost wore out Google looking for references but didn't come up with much. Thanks, Mike
  10. Thanks for the help guys. This is my first truck and will be a test bed of sorts. The KW Aerodyne COE is one of my favorite trucks and I know I'll be building more of them so I'll definitely pick up a Revell kit soon. I'm glad I found this site. There's a ton of info here and everyone seems pretty helpful. I hope to contribute whenever I can. Thanks again, Mike
  11. Hi all, I'm not new to modeling but am new to building trucks (been a jet modeler since I was a kid) and just picked up an AMT/ERTL kit of the KW Aerodyne COE. I've also been looking at kits online and found that Revell released a similar kit. My first question is which is better regarding fit and details? Revells kit seems to cost more than the AMT but since most of these are OOP, I can't use that as an indication. Secondly, my truck has a long wheelbase (it's kit # 31770, if that helps). Most of the trucks I've seen have had a short WB. I'd like to convert it to a shorter WB and have not found much in the way of useful detail photos to give me an idea of where to shorten the frame. Any help would be appreciated. Mike
