  1. Thanks JT. Kids in TX can use the guidance. Never know, maybe they'll pickup on modeling.
  2. OK, been awhile. The wife and I have been getting the house and the property ready to get back to having foster kids. Been out of it for five years after having done it for fifteen before that. Anyway, was moving furniture around and I put a new display case in our bedroom with glass shelves and put some of my other WIP's in it. However, those are more involved with frame mods and engine conversions and such. But, long story uh........long, it gave me the bug to get more in the case. Gonna build a Diamond Reo. Box stock for speed and simplicity. Gonna black it out just like the box as well, except a few other color alterations. Lubifiner going black not chrome. Mirror heads and air cleaner box as well. Think I'll have it pull a lowboy that I have too. All for now. This one. Wish me luck.
  3. Tim calls it attempted.......yeah right!!!I'd call it "nailed it!" That's a cool B train Tim.
  4. James, I have seen the trailer question before, so......... I asked. My daughter works at our Hobby Lobby and I know the managers real well. They have a corporate list of what they can order. It is the same for every single store in the nation and unfortunately, that list does not contain trailers. They are not able to explain the reasoning because those order sheets just show up on a 1:1 semi trailer with the latest shipment as they are updated.
  5. Jim, I am building an extended Mack with a DROM tank and it needed a lift axle. When I got to looking at the internet to see what is out there these days, I found some very cool and very interesting self-steer lifts. They use a tensioner similar to a shock absorber that is connected to the steer rods. Is only tight enough to pull it back to straight/keep out the wobble.
  6. Sorry James, same goes here as with JT, haven't seen any trailers at all.
  7. If I put a drom on that one too, JT, it would be a flat. Already building one with a box. The older one is a bedbug hauler. Gonna have to do repairs on that one though. I like the idea of a day cab stretched with a flat bed drom though.
  8. Got a decent score at Hobby Lobby yesterday. Daughter works there, so I know everyone in charge. (I helped her get the job) They had an opened Freight shaker. The manager marked it down to $13 for me and then got another 15% with daughters employee disc. Bought a $5 metal sign with it and walked out the door for $16. If the manager and I would have looked at things closer, I probably could have gotten it even cheaper. It had a couple of things glued but all popped loose when I got it home. Now, the tell me what you think part?????? I have a DD stretched with a DROM box. I have a DD going stock. Was thinking of a long frame day cab for this one. Any input? Pics will follow as soon as the plan is finalized.
  9. I was thinking.......Wow that's a lot of money!!! Some of those resin kits are not cheap!!!
  10. That Pilot driver must have a dedicated unit to be able to put the mud flaps of his choosing on the trailer. "Me likes!"
  11. Oh I'm sure it's photoshopped, but coming from the manufact. the art dept. probably has the strictest of rules on how to present it.
  12. Richard, welcome. Don't have an answer for ya. Just saying hi from a little farther west. I'm out near Abilene.
  13. That's one heck of a good photoshop!!!! You can see the trees and the logs through the window of that logger.
  14. Roy, I would venture to say that you would have to mock up the drive train to get your angle correct. Build the motor, mock with it and the driveline (prop shaft as you called it) and see if that helps. Dry fit those parts and maybe you will have proper success. BTW, have never been to Ireland, but I would love to to be able to visit my cousins in Dublin. Good Luck.
  15. Hey Chris, would you consider doing a step-by-step or presenting some plans for these lowboys? Maybe we could use your expertise to scratchbuild our own? I am interested, but, I believe my own labor rate is cheaper than yours.
  16. Tell me about it Chris. What you are seeing is a 10x20 room with a 13ft counter on that right side as you look at it with good shelf space for storage. then in the end and to the left is a corner desk that goes 8ft in both directions. I am filling in the corner of the desk, if you look hard you can see the 2x4 framework. On the left as well will be a 6ft glass display case that still needs a little TLC.
  17. Sorry about some of the fuzziness. They looked great on my phone. Didn't use the camera.
  18. Okay guys, this is going here because I deal with the bigs rigs more. Before they changed the site around, I think I had the original building photos in "General". But, we are sticking with the truck section at the moment. Some of you may have seen my garage photos from before. A couple of refreshers: The beginning! In Progress: Now the good stuff! We are done! Started moving in my HO scale railroad stuff first. (needed to get it away from the ferrel cats) Model kits will be next. Enjoy!! Tell me what you think. Been about 3yrs in the making and the budget. Finally got it done!
  19. Her's one for ya. "Billet Aluminum" (whatever part you want to enter here) The term "Billet" refers to the blank chunk of metal in RAW form before it is machined! After that, it becomes an aluminum PART! Not a "Billet" aluminum part. They can add what type of aluminum but that still will not turn it back to billet. And to add "Aircraft aluminum" is just as bad. Building Aircraft with a large quantity of 6061-T6 Aluminum does not make a car part made from 6061-T6 aluminum an "Aircraft Part"! Like it is better because it has the word "Aircraft" in it!
  20. Ben, to piggy back Jim's comment.......I use a little bit of glue between the grill and hood and once it sets well, trim the back of those pins off flush for a good clean look on the inside of the hood.
  21. Doug, thanks for the cool looking 1:1 to set me straight. I'm sure there are several different body styles to go with the different weight classes, so.....happy building. Keep up the good work.
  22. Doug, I don't want to pick at this because you are doing an awesome job! However, my only concern would be: isn't the roof-line on the Top Kick a little higher? It seems to me that the windshield is taller. I see you have primered and there comes a time to stop messing with what you have already accomplished. I will for sure understand if that's where your at with it.
