What we have here, is your failure to more specific. You mentioned 'old' stock car kits. I responded with my experience. Instead of explaining more specifically what kits you referred to, you got upset. No need to get your panties in a bunch. I'm so sorry, This ole 66 year old bows to your expertise on oldness.

I have sent thousands of wheels and trim rings to Bob's Paint and Custom Chrome, both chrome and plastic an recommend him highly. I soak all parts in bleche white overnight, then in dawn / water overnight, then rinse and dry. I had problems in the beginning, but Bob worked with me and this solved my problems. Plus, I like the fact you don't have to mount your parts, he does that for you. Good prices, great turn around. In the past I have dealt with other chrome guys, with mixed results..........Steven Zimmerman

I go to several swap meets a year, from Jersey to Michigan; those old NASCAR kits are EVERYWHERE for around $5 each, and they don't sell...........Why would they re issue when the market is glutted ?

What sold in the past is not always a parameter of what will sell currently.

If companies could actually predict "what would sell" and what would not, no one would ever go out of business, and every one of them would make a profit. I will wager that today's model producing companies spend a lotta moolah, probably more than ever before, on research and development. We ALL 'think' we know what would sell, based on our own preferences; unfortunately , in the real world, it doesn't work that way......Ask any resin caster about this............'Z'

I believe those tires were in the 'street machine' duster, with the Viper 5 spoke wheels and the Viper - style intake on a small block V8 Mopar engine.

I would love to see a corrected grille for the AMT 41 Plymouth, the kit grille is crooked, left side does not match the right side, and the panel they fit into is the same way. I have tried to correct this myself, but not quite 'there' yet...'Z'

To each his own, I guess....I have never seen resin offered with any mixing ratio than 1 to one, and it's very forgiving, you can eyeball it in a clear mixing cup, no need to measure it exactly by weight or eyedropper ; As far as price, you can buy 'amazing resin' at hobby lobby , with the 40% off coupon for about the same price as one of those glue / infra - red pens, and you get a lot more. Bubbles can be frustrating, but learning how to deal with that is easy, using a toothpick, and mold filling procedure. Cures in less than a half hour, with you can accelerate with a food dehydrator; most resin has a year shelf life, as long as you keep it 'closed', and storing in the refrigerator can extend that. IMHO, there is no other product I know of that closely resembles styrene, either in stability once hard, workability, tensile strength, sands and preps like styrene, etc.. with the added benefit that you can paint it with just about anything - lacquer, enamel, acrylic; and it reacts to none of those........ As far as being 'just plain nasty'.......no worse than superglue, or two part epoxy. Just like everything else in this hobby, use of resin has a learning curve. Did your first paint job come out perfect, or did you learn better techniques, etc, as you progressed . I do realize, that coming from someone who pours gallons of resin a year, vs. one who just wants a quick, easy one time fix, resin may not be the answer....that whatever works is OK for you, .....'Z'

You can purchase resin at Hobby Lobby w/ coupon for around $14 bucks. I understand wanting to find other alternatives, but why ?

I think a lot - not all, but aOT - of the reasons for the demise of the Toledo NNL swap meet / show, can be laid directly at the feet of the promoter. For example, several years ago several of us, as vendors, approached him about lack of advertising, on his part, for the fall show - he told us in no uncertain terms that advertising for the show was OUR ( VENDORS) responsibility. That is his attitude with everything related to the show. I have other examples, but that will suffice for now. Steven Zimmerman
