  1. would the cut out at the bottom of the tail light housing be for back up lights or was that addition not incorporated until later?
  2. nice. what's the scoop on the '41 (?) with the van box? oh; just found its build thread.
  3. the JB Kwik is not as strong as the 24 hour slow cure JB (generally true of 2-part products)
  4. and then we can grumble about the high cost of kits
  5. for everyone here, i think it's good to take a deep breath once in a while and realize no matter where we are in life, we are all quite fragile.
  6. i don't think anyone is questioning your knowledge or integrity. but by your own admission you're "fed up" (my paraphrase from #4348, 4369 & 4372). i tried for 45 years to reform the residential construction business, and i had to be where i wanted regardless of anyone else on the road. well, i didn't, and it ate up a part of me trying. i'm grateful to be off the hamster wheel now, and anytime i lament not having 'things', i realize i have the most precious gift of all - time. one that $$$ cannot buy. and there's many more of "them" than there are of me. or you. it's so easy now to look back and see the warning signs i didn't have time to heed. i'm sure you will make the correct decision for your circumstances.
  7. maybe "slow down" and enjoy the journey? or keep doing the same thing the same way and expect it to change itself.
  8. nice. as an youth, his models were the acme of achievement.
  9. perhaps they are the enlightened ones; give peace a chance.
  10. is there enough wood to use a piece of upset brass rod in the hinge holes? or an escutcheon pin?
  11. i think it's French. Jacques Tati is a genius in my book, but will acquiesce it's not for everyone.
  12. http://www.darkroastedblend.com/2014/07/these-glorious-three-wheeled-microcars.html
  13. the "polisher" so much reminded me of Mr Hulot.
  14. some K & B annealed brass sheet and a dapping block? OR - get friendly with that member who just got his Mattel Vac-U-Form! sorry - http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=102410&hl= Kit Basher .... i am really terrible with names, Sam.
  15. ditto. never realized Hubley made any kits except the dreaded metal flash laden things.
  16. fantastic! do we know what car the police van was?
  17. welcome to the real world. it's called "business". it's paper, ink, product, and time. why is it "their" fault if you don't know if "the thing" works? or "their" problem? what's a hobby for some is a business for others. next time you go into a "hobby shop", ask the owner the last time he built one of his kits.
  18. you're hittin' close to home, now ....
  19. for what it's worth, i know you're sealing all sides of the wood before calling this build "done".
