  1. I also got an e-mail back from them. What interests me is the Ferrari 330 GTC, the BMW 2002, and the Triumph TR4. Doing the currency exchange, 80 Euros is $109. Shipping of course is extra.
  2. So many great ideas. And a fantastic build.
  3. Depending on the blueprint, there is either 1 or two locker rooms. The other thing to keep in mind was that this was the south (Wilmington, NC). I'm not sure that two locker rooms would have been included if this dealer was going to be in Detroit or Chicago.
  4. That IS great. That would work as numerous repair shops. I could see a body shop with that layout. And it would only take up a 8'x4' (or less) piece of wood for a base. The size would be 2.640 for the width and 6.600 for the length. I wonder if you could get those drawings on legal size paper (11"x17") from NCSU?
  5. The tube at the back of the engine is probably a road draft tube.
  6. OK, I started the build on the first piece of my car hauler. I'm not the fastest builder so I don't know how long this will take. I've also found that this truck used a hybrid air brake system (as modeled). I might try to upgrade the kit to a full air brake system with a compressor. We'll see. I've got the basis frame together, including the hinges for the cab tilt. I just glued the hinges tonight so I'll let it sit until Thursday before hitting it with primer. I'll prime some of the other suspension pieces and wheels at the same time. I'll put some pictures up after the primer coats. I know this model has issues with the cab mounting and the doors. If anyone has suggestions on how to overcome these (other than gluing the doors shut), I'd appreciate it. I would assume that a late 1960's car hauler had full air brakes and a diesel engine for torque. Someone suggested that a Cummins 903 (V8) was in the same engine family as the 555. I'm thinking this is the way to go. The 903 is available in resin. I'll still need front air brakes and a compressor. Are these available in the aftermarket? This is my first HD truck in 35 years. Cassen's Transportation handle Chrysler's deliveries back then (and still do). I sent them an e-mail to see if I could get any pictures of their truck from 'back in the day'. I know their trucks and trailers are orange and the lower frames and accessories are black. This will also be my first shot at weathering something. I hope it turns out...
  7. Car companies shipped cars by rail. They didn't need sleepers. Car haulers picked up cars at the rail yard or the assembly plant. And the driver went home at night.
  8. The frame, wheels and bumper are going to be all black. The cab a reddish orange. There is a transport company called Cassen's and they are the inspiration behind the truck. I know the 361's of the era were painted a darker shade red than normal Mopar Engine Red. The frame has a slight twist in it...Errrr.
  9. Yeah, I was wrong about that. No sooner do I type it I noticed a dump truck driving by with those wheels
  10. Jim, thank you. They are Daytons. I'm learning little by little. I'd like a late 60's car hauler and I'm using the L700 for the tractor. Vintage truck are hard to find info on.
  11. There's the Dodge L700 if you want a challenge. This is what I'm starting with. I even have a little history on my side...Chrysler used them to deliver new cars.
  12. I'm doing my first big truck in 35 years. These wheels are no longer used. What wheels are these. I'd like to detail these, but I have no idea what I'm looking at... Are these older Budd wheels?
  13. Thanks to everyone that contributed to this thread. It saved me from making another thread on the same topic. I'm going to you the Dodge L700 as a car transporter and want it to look new, but not too new. I'm going to try the flat black was technique to add some depth the the wheels and undercarriage.
  14. OK, good bad or indifferent, I got a two ounce bottle of Plastruct Plastic Weld. Our Hobby Land here in Lakeland sucks as far as choices...
  15. I'm looking at using a Cummins diesel engine in my L700. Is there at least a good candidate as a late '60's Cummins. It needs to be a V8. As a fall back I'm looking at a Ross Gibson 383 to base a more accurate 361.
  16. Ray, I really like the direction you went with that. I might need to get another... Thanks guys...
  17. Just looking at the two, I'd say that the Revell trailer looks more mid 1970's and the AMT trailer was early 60's. I have a few pictures that are mid-50's and they usually hauled no more than 4 at a time. I'd love to have that AMT trailer reissued (Round 2?).
  18. Apparently I'm not learning fast enough... (post moved).
