  1. I'm not complaining but, I am confused. All this time I thought Workbench Saturdays was under "on the workbench" instead of "general". How could I possibly miss that? EDIT: Ok, now it's under "Community Builds". Working hard to chase it down nowadays.
  2. That blue underneathe really gives this a nice color tone. Very cool!
  3. When you first log into the forum...scroll down the page...way down the page. Under the blue bar with the heading "The Community", you will see the topics of Model Cub News & Announcements, Contests & Shows, Real or Model?/Auto ID Quiz, Model Parts Trivia!, then Community Builds. Click Community Builds and it's in there.
  4. This is a great conversion! I would've had a hard time believing it started as a Toyota either without the pics. Someone really needs to make this as a kit. Are you doing the gold wheels and rally lights like Brian's Escort in Fast and Furious 6? If so, it could sure go with the F&F community build.
  5. I've got that but, have yet to try it. I did turn it on to check it when I got it. It really isn't too loud.
  6. well, im out before i start...just found out a while ago i gotta work extra tomorrow.
  7. Thanks, for the info. Yeah, if I get to do it, I'll just have to do a workbench for the 24 hour build here. I don't have Facebook.
  8. To be clear, as long as we obey the rules at the beginning of the post, anyone can join in this build without an official announcement before hand...is that correct? I am asking because I am really wanting to get cranking into some builds now that some time is freeing up and I've got an understarted roadrunner I am itching to get at. I might join with it.
  9. Clear Elmer's School Glue at that. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=73040
  10. In KY, we have a sticker for the current registration year that we put in any one of the four corners. There is an indent specifically for them. They also give the owner's birth month telling what month they expire. We only change plates when we park the vehicle with no insurance on it, change if title changes hands, or if a new design comes out every few years.
  11. Ben, to be starting over, you've picked some excellent starter supplies, a cool subject, and a very nice color...keep up the good work!
  12. Bob, if you're just getting started, you will learn, along the way, that you should always get most supplies somewhere other than the hobby shop if possible. With AC Moore, Hobby Lobby, and Michael's offering special deals, clearance tables, and 40-50% off coupons you usually get the best bang for the buck. Unfortunately, some supplies and kits do leave you searchin hobby stores and online vendors. Then again, if you are one of those of us fortunate enough to have a hobby shop to walk into, maybe you should support them more.
  13. I'm not super familiar with C.A.R.B. and all the other things associated with getting a car legalized in CA. But I do know that there are a ton of pre 1980 cars on the road. Granted, a lot of them are customized. Nonetheless, they are there. If CA doesn't recognize 13 number VINs, then I would imagine there is a process of upgrading the VIN or reregistering with a recognizable format. If they do so, I would imagine there would be some kind of record or department that does this and maybe that could help you track the car down. I don't wanna give you any ideas of false hope. I'm just saying someone somewhere should have incite on this. Best of luck finding it either way. You never know, you just may roll up on it at the car wash one day.
  14. Holy Moly!....I thought I was seeing things until Tom confirmed, "Non-Machineable" written right on it! Wow! Be it that our rural postal carrier isn't the best, the local post office here is always careful about processing my packages in and out. And when I say something is fragile, they mark every side with the super wide tipped black marker...in bold, large, "guys I'll come back there and get you if you mess this up" writing.
  15. I build models and 1:1s because there are certain aspects of doing such that I am good at. And being good at those skills makes me feel just a little better about being me. It's the only time I have that someone else isn't down my throat wanting something done right that second. The pressures of working with the public 80 hours a week really build the stress.
  16. This site is my closest thing to social media. Oh, wait, I forgot...we are "selfie" and yard sale free. Seriously though...Ron, I'm glad Pinterest works out for you. It sounds like a pretty cool thing. I just work 80 hours a week on the computer and MCM is just about all the extra curicular (SP?) surfing I can take.
  17. That's what I was gonna say. Poor thing is sitting in the cold snow waiting for someone to take it home and take care of it.
  18. I don't know what the heck you guys are painting with but, I have NEVER had paint build up keep a wheel from going on in my life.
  19. I agree with the 09 Challenger. I had one of those kits meet it's demise and I just had to rescue that Hemi for a later day.
  20. That's not just making the most of a crappy kit. That's making a crappy kit look like it was tooled to today's standards! Really, Really nice job on this Effie, Jesse.
  21. Agreed, but, who made that and what kind of quality control department do they have? A bunch of chimpanzees and monkeys?
