  1. He's standing by a golden chariot with his stogie and a cutting torch, figuring out where to make the first cut
  2. I imagine it took pilots with guts and determination to fly unarmed planes into and back out of combat zones
  3. Always wanted to do this one in a "Where Eagles Dare" diorama depicting the escape from the airfield
  4. I feel so old now that we're referring to the Reggie series as "Vintage"..
  5. can you post a picture of the problem area? Is it the dash not fitting up to the cowl at the glass interface?
  6. Man, that's great work for 12 years old AND with '75 era materials... DON'T mess with it; it's a time capsule!
  7. Don't be fooled by the age and multi-piece body; it is a nice looking kit OOB and lends itself to all kinds of mods
  8. Pretty sharp execution and imaginative concept!
  9. I like this kit, it's a blank slate of possibilities... i ditched the fin on mine and added freestanding headrests, filled the hood trim and molded on the custom front from an AMT '56 Ford... I'd like to do another and progress that concept further.... I like the kit wheels but getting them to work with vinyl tires is difficult. Keep it coming!
  10. I love this.... I can't bring anything to the table since nearly all of my current collection is post-1987 builds.... I had a nice hoard of old stuff but they got destroyed in moving... saving even a few of them was a heart-rending task, as quite a few were literally unobtainium even then. ANYWAY; bring them on! MORE!
  11. "Stance". Something about that word just makes my skin crawl. But as far as irritating phrases, the most irritating one I encounter here is "Has anyone built..."...... NO, NOBODY EVER BUILT one of those kits; every last one of them is still sealed up and locked in a vault waiting for the big BANG part 2 so we can unload them for millions of bucks. Look, I get it; you wanna know what to expect when building it... so search the kit reviews or be a brave little toaster and dive right into it yourself.
  12. My Dad used to treat me to bags of toy soldiers and jeeps with swivel-mounted .50's every payday he could manage it... then it became Matchbox cars.... they were a LOT cheaper i think... but they were fun; shiny, and durable... I've got a couple of those and the really cheap Tootsietoy cars still... one's a Triumph TR3.
  13. sharp build; did R2 retool for the big block or did you source it from another kit?
  14. You're probably right about the suspension, and I do recall the one I had was blue. It didn't last long, I probably traded it away as I wasn't into cars at that time, more GI Joe than anything else
  15. Ford gave SOMEBODY a contract to release Pinto toy cars with working suspension and steering; wondering if anyone had a picture or knew what company did them? They were TOUGH plastic, not blow-molded stuff, and fairly detailed but no opening hoods or doors.
  16. Not to win a bet, but truthfully I would love to find that darn thing.... especially, thinking of Revell in that period and AMT/MPC holding "all the cards" on annuals... Revell shouldn't have been making a new Mustang II kit anyway! As far as even finding a box, I spent a while last night surfing and ALL i came up with was the already well-known AMT and MPC 1/25 kits.
  17. Well done! I've ALWAYS loved the design of this car.... makes me want R2 to dig the molds out and dust them off... but that's not bloody likely
  18. Well; try as I might, I can find nothing to back my claim, so I'll have to acquiesce. Still, I had one, I just can't figure out where it came from.
  19. I must differ with you as I remember it clearly, and I believe it was a Revell kit because it used their awful split-pin method of retaining wheels, had their equally awful flat-tread two-piece tires and my mother wanted to know why I wanted that kit instead of the current Pinto like the one she drove... it was molded in a light beige, nearly white plastic.... it MAY not have even had underhood detail.... but it WAS a Mustang II coupe.
  20. Nothing wrong with taking it easy after such a long interruption; many of us who build regularly still do easy builds to break stride once in a while. Also, there's no pressing need to seek perfection until you're ready. Correcting errors or accurizing kits is a skill you can re-acquire steadily.
  21. I KNOW for a fact that a coupe was available, and I think it was a Revell kit. It was one of the first few car models I built and suffered a tragic fate. This is a very good conversion! I wish AMT had seen fit to provide a better detailed chassis plate.
  22. criminals stay up all night preying on honest citizens.... somebody needs a good thrashing
