What's with all of the self deprecation?! This is a beautiful build/example of a bygone kit. I'd be proud to have it in my display case any day! Nice work, sir!

Looks fantastic, Curtis! I've got one of these, along with a 60 Pontiac kit Trumpeter offered. I'll have to dig them out. I've heard they're not for the faint of heart, but yours looks great! Nice work.

Wow- your candy red paint job really pops on the '57. Excellent job, it looks great.
Much appreciated, Greg!

I love everything about this, John. The color choice, as well as the vinyl top treatment is perfect. Engine compartment detail is well done also.

Missed this one Mike. As a huge '57 Chevy fan gotta say this is a beauty. I did the exact paint job on my last 2 builds (not '57's) and got 2 different shades for some reason.
Anyway, great job, I really like it👍
Much appreciated, Mike! Who doesn't enjoy a little candy, right?!

What a fine 57. Big fan of the tri-5 Chevys.
When I first purchased my 1960 Corvette in 1983 one of the first things I did was swap on the single cylinder master cylinder for a dual master cylinder. 15 years later I converted the front drum brakes to disc brakes via a kit from ECI Brake https://www.ecihotrodbrakes.com/ who assured me I did not need to add a power booster. The good folks who post on the C1/C2 part of the CorvetteForum.com also agreed.
Cheers from Nova Scotia....
Thanks for the feedback as well as the interesting details regarding the brake upgrade and power booster (or lack thereof) as it related to your '60 Vette. Cheers, Ken, and happy modeling!

Another stunning build, John! Always a treat to see what you've come up with next.

Beautifully executed! Love the color, and the wheel choice!

Good evening, all!
This project completes the trifecta of kits that have languished on my bench. As with the previous two (56 Delrey, and 57 Chev Convertible), I opted to simply complete this as a box-stock build. Beyond paint, glue and foil, only what came with the kit. I enjoyed the build, but did find myself scratching my head at times regarding some of the decisions made by the kit manufacturer, the most curious thing being the 4-wheel disc brake option, but only offering the factory single reservoir master cylinder, with no power brake booster. All in all, it was an enjoyable build with few issues.
Paint Tamiya gold metallic base with Tamiya Transparent red as color coat, followed by Tamiya clear.

Ohhh man that prrrr-ty. Love my '57's. Great job Mike👍
What kit is that?
Thanks, Mike! It's the Revell kit from 8-9 years ago. Nice kit. The only thing I wish they had done differently, would have been to have the grille and center light bar be separate components. A bit difficult to detail the grille with so much molded in content. Thanks for the comments.

Going through some projects that have been stalled for far too long, this project among them. In an effort to clear the deck, I'm opting to forego the added detail of plug wires, plumbing etc., and instead completing them straight from the box. (I did add flocking for carpet, but otherwise only what was available in the kit. Paint is Model Car World 2706 Lt. Burnt Orange Metallic (57 Chevy Sierra Gold). The kit is incredibly detailed, and was a pleasure to complete. Enjoy!

Nice job, Gustavo! AMT's '36 kit has some inherent issues, but your finished example(s) illustrate that with a little time, attention, and patience, beautiful results can be acheived. Again, nice work!

Delicious! Anyone know if there was ever a 1955 Delray issued? I made one, more or less satisfactory, from a '56 center section and '55 front and rear sections, but it was too much like work. Trying to build one of all my significant rides from the day!
My first car in 1961 was a Delray coupe with all the current stuff: full-moons, lakes pipes, hot 265, stick with real 'Vette floor-shift complete with plate, pattern, and ashtray, and pinstriped by the famous 'Coop'! Out of my life in '63 for college money; the draft board was on my heels -- and they got me anyway in '68! Oh well...
Thanks, James!
To respond to your question, I owned a '55 back in the late 90s. Providing a picture of the 1:1 car, as well as the 1:25 recreation I did of it using the AMT Bel Air Sedan kit. It required abbreviating the body crease on the front fenders, and elimination of the stainless trim from the front of each of the doors, but otherwise no real differences/modifications.

Hopefully maybe they can find another location
Venue costs were definitely a factor, but it was also pointed out that some of the host club members had passed away, while others were dealing with serious health issues. Putting on a show of this magnitude takes tremendous effort, and these guys have put in yeoman effort for the past 39 years. No. 40 will be a must-attend for me. Grateful to Rex, Roy, Andy, and all the others who have made this show possible for so long!

I'll take your "one" over a dozen of mine. A sentimental favorite for me, as we had a '64 Bonny convert' when I was in Junior High (early 70s), and it remains one of my favorite cars to this day. Your exceptional build brings back fond memories. I enjoyed the progress string for this as well!

This has been on the bench idle since late summer, however, was able to wrap it up quickly to bring to NNL West yesterday. Kit is Revell's most recent offering. With the exception of parts box wheels and tires, this was built straight from the box. I enjoyed the kit, and felt it was decently engineered.
Tamiya Paint: TS-92 Metallic Orange, followed by TS-73 Clear orange, and final clear using TS-13. All feedback warmly received.- 12

Nice build. Great photography. Especially love how you used the light beam/reflection to visually frame the model.
