Thank you guys for all the positive comments. Building these cars is a lot of fun and a bit therapeutic. The work I've seen from others here has been inspirational and I can only hope to build at that level some day.

Well, I have been lurking and loving all the info and advice here. I am just getting into to building and I'm still very much a beginner but using Yost's videos have helped me create some great paint jobs and that's half the battle. Both cars have minor modifications. The 51 had the handles and trim shaved for a mild custom look. Both represent my first stabs at BMF. I'm happy with the results. The 51 Chevy is Lime pearl over sublime green with gold flake in the clear. Took three attempts to paint this one, but I'm thrilled with the results.

Thank you for your replies... I kinda thought that would be the case. What actually constitutes "bad" enamel? What will it do, or not do? The reason for all of this is that I really like some of the colors by boyd paints and they are obviously no longer made, so I'm stuck buying old store stock. Mike

I am dipping my big toe back into the hobby after a twenty+years absence and this board has provided a wealth of knowledge. My question is regarding bottled enamel paints. How long will they keep, on average, if they are unopened? Please don't reply "try lacquer instead." Thank you, Mike

I like this alot. I've been scheming to do a couple Watson-style paintjobs on a couple of cars in the near future and I've been trying to think how to get mask for such fine lines. Outstanding!!

For Testors Bottles, I'll usually throw a BB in there. Then I just shake them up.
