    Makes me wanna smash every model I've ever built.

    Kidding!

    Seriously, that is a spectacular model car. You have some incredible skills there Yuri... Possibly the best I've ever seen.

    Nice build. I had one just like it back in the early 90's. what kit is this? Is it painted or is that bare styrene?

    Nice! I like yer model better than the real car. On the 1:1, the box is too short and doesn't look like its sitting right. Good job!

    Putty, sand... putty, sand... I hate this part.

    Decided to put the wheels on. Wow are they ever big... too big to turn the front ones and the back ones are touching the body.
    I need to either lift the suspension a bit or enlarge the fender openings... or possibly a bit of both. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    69' Charger
    I've put the ZZ Top Eliminator on the back burner to start this Charger model I want to enter in a local contest (my first). The car will be painted the new Alclad Kandy Orange enamel with a black vinyl roof and black interior.

    Doors and trunk cut out waiting to be hinged

    Here's some of the stuff I will be using on this build

    Trying to make the inside of the trunk a little more realistic

  8. northendmetalallstar added a post in a topic Alclad candy enamels- Wow!

    I picked up the Alclad " Bright Silver Base" and Kandy Orange today at my LHS. I was a little surprised to see the the directions, which said to spray the silver base directly on "clean, bare plastic"... Do they really mean for you to NOT PRIME the car body? That just seems so wrong!! Or is the silver base a kind of primer?

    Just wondering what other people's experiences have been. And should I or can I use a clear coat at the end??

    That's the way I look at it. I've had a few different hobbies over the years; saltwater aquariums, guitar and amp collecting, comics and toy collecting, and this hobby is by far the most inexpensive.

    My girlfriend is much happier now when i come home with a $25 model kit than when I used to come home with $$expensive$$ guitars, amps & FX pedals and rare marine fish and aquarium equipment.. LOL

    Sharp Dressed Man all the way baby!!

    That's gotta be THE defining guitar riff of the 80's...

    Got some more work done this weekend...

    Wheels finished with Alclad

    Since I was stealing the tires out of the '40 Ford kit, I thought I would use the hinges as well

    I use a degreaser called Purple Power. I let them soak in it for a few hours.

    So I went and bought the '40 Ford truck to get the wheels out of it. I'm glad I did because the truck looks like a kit I will enjoy building anyways. After I get some new wheels for it of course, LOL

    I also stripped all the chrome and used Alcad on everything.

    Before;

    Alclad finished;

    Here are the wheels and knockoffs I snatched out of the '40 Ford;

    After they were stripped the holes need to be re-drilled as you can see by the bottom right wheel I did;

    Ready for Alclad;

    I'm also having problems hingeing the suicide doors because the seats will be in the way of the arch of the hinge pin. I'll figure something out...

    These look really good! I'm sure they're challenging to make, and not cheap$ but they certainly look sturdy.
