76 Ford Econoline
northendmetalallstar replied to Rick Schmidt's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Nice build. I had one just like it back in the early 90's. what kit is this? Is it painted or is that bare styrene? -
Putty, sand... putty, sand... I hate this part. Decided to put the wheels on. Wow are they ever big... too big to turn the front ones and the back ones are touching the body. I need to either lift the suspension a bit or enlarge the fender openings... or possibly a bit of both. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Alclad candy enamels- Wow!
northendmetalallstar replied to stevez's topic in Links to Aftermarket Suppliers
I picked up the Alclad " Bright Silver Base" and Kandy Orange today at my LHS. I was a little surprised to see the the directions, which said to spray the silver base directly on "clean, bare plastic"... Do they really mean for you to NOT PRIME the car body? That just seems so wrong!! Or is the silver base a kind of primer? Just wondering what other people's experiences have been. And should I or can I use a clear coat at the end?? -

That's the way I look at it. I've had a few different hobbies over the years; saltwater aquariums, guitar and amp collecting, comics and toy collecting, and this hobby is by far the most inexpensive. My girlfriend is much happier now when i come home with a $25 model kit than when I used to come home with $$expensive$$ guitars, amps & FX pedals and rare marine fish and aquarium equipment.. LOL -

I use a degreaser called Purple Power. I let them soak in it for a few hours. -

So I went and bought the '40 Ford truck to get the wheels out of it. I'm glad I did because the truck looks like a kit I will enjoy building anyways. After I get some new wheels for it of course, LOL I also stripped all the chrome and used Alcad on everything. Before; Alclad finished; Here are the wheels and knockoffs I snatched out of the '40 Ford; After they were stripped the holes need to be re-drilled as you can see by the bottom right wheel I did; Ready for Alclad; I'm also having problems hingeing the suicide doors because the seats will be in the way of the arch of the hinge pin. I'll figure something out... -

These look really good! I'm sure they're challenging to make, and not cheap$ but they certainly look sturdy. -

Actually I'm finding it to be a ###### kit to work with. The body pieces fit terribly. This is going to take a lot of work to make it nice but I am determined to do it right, I love this car. Does anyone know if these rims might be available in resin? -

I'm confused. Every picture I've seen of the Eliminator have the same rims front and back. Or do you mean the Back tires are wider/fatter than the front? Or am I not seeing something else? -

I kinda thought they were the wrong wheels. Anyone know where to get the correct ones? -
I've been wanting this kit for a long time. Every time I see it on Ebay its been a little more than I've been willing to pay when you factor in shipping to Canada. I walked into my LHS yesterday and saw it on the shelf for $9.99. Its used but the bags inside were still sealed. But it is missing its front window, should be easy to fab though as its flat. I'm going to hinge the trunk. The doors will be hinged suicide style. The hood will also be hinged. I'm super excited about this one the mockup One door cut out

1964 1/2 Mustang Convertible
northendmetalallstar replied to northendmetalallstar's topic in Model Cars
Thanks everyone. My Dad loved it. Said it looked exactly like the one he had except his had Cragar rims... If he had of told me that when I started it, I might have been able to find some. -
My friend wanted to give his Dad, who is retired, a model of the truck he drove back in the 70's. He found the kit he wanted, The Revell Snaptite Mack R series tanker, and asked me if I would build it for him. This was my first commissioned work, LOL I had to cut the sleeper off, shorten the frame and add a few other touches to replicate the original truck. Everything is done in various Alcad finishes and the cab is painted Testors Red Enamel

I built this for my Dad's birthday. He owned one just like this when he was young. Color is Tamiya Pearl Light Blue. I forgot to take pics of the engine
