MCM Ohana (6/6)

  1. The Revell '83 Hurst Olds or '85 442, perhaps?
  2. Great job! Love the color and all the well done mods!
  3. Went to Allentown, Pa. stores this morning, found these at the Tilghman St. store. The Airport Rd. store had nothing new. The F&F '71 GTX seems to be one that others haven't mentioned. I got 3 of the '32 Fords for parts. I recently paid about the Ollie's price just to get a chassis from one of these......
  4. Love it! Super well done! Gasser stance and look nailed!
  5. Here is what they have at the Airport Road, Allentown, Pa. store:
  6. Outstanding work and detailing!
  7. Maybe just paint the hood flat or semi gloss black? My dad did that when the hood on his real '69 Firebird got damaged and he figured they wouldn't be able to match the paint (metallic green). In the late 60's early 70's the manufacturers were offering blackout hoods and striping from the factory. Your car is not painted a factory stock color anyway, so you could say it was a few years old and the owner gave it a repaint and black hood to make it look more like the then "new" cars.
  8. Pretty much all of my purchases for the last few years have been vintage Monogram kits. They look the part and are generally easy to build. The first issues have such cool custom parts and all the stock stuff too (well mostly). As I get older, I just want to have a nice building experience and a reasonably nice model when I am done. My biggest issues are there are not as many wheel and tire options as you have with the vintage AMT Trophy Series models and I find the vintage Monogram parts are harder to come by because they weren't reissued as many times as the AMT ones were.
  9. FWIW, the Amt 1969 "Torino" Cobra kit is a Cobra, even though Amt has insisted on putting Torino on the box since they brought it out in the early 90's. The Torino and Cobra were stand alone models in 1969. The Cobra was supposed to be a low buck performance car, like a Plymouth Roadrunner or Dodge Super Bee. No frills, big engine, not a lot of options. Calling the Cobra a Torino Cobra would be like calling a Roadrunner a Satellite Roadrunner or a Roadrunner GTX, but people keep doing it and I doubt it will stop any time soon.
  10. I was able to get a Jungle Jim 1/16 Vega at the Airport Road store in Allentown, Pa. It is a very nice model, especially for $15! The body on mine is very clean. I may wind up not painting it, just polish and clear it.
  11. Outstanding work as usual! I liked the original builds, but the upgrades really look great!

Outstanding work! The trim work is super! The colors and details are right on!
  13. On FB there was a guy who posted he got a 1/16 Atlantis Jungle Jim Vega at his Ollie's, $15! Could be models will start coming in now. One of the ones near me got a huge load of Christmas toys already.
  14. Yeah, that looks like the Early Iron version. It would have a 6x2 Pontiac engine, same as the original issue, but with different headers. Unless someone swapped it out.
