  1. Very, very nice. Great job. As for the yellow, you've never seen the movie, The Yellow Rolls Royce?
  2. Amazing work. I like all the other cars, in the background, of the early shots.
  3. I just can't believe how much detail you put into your builds. My hat is off to you, Tyrone. Outstanding work.
  4. The SoCal beach town, I grew up in, has become very affluent in the last 35 years. I'm an IT Professional for their school district. You can't drive through the city (all 4 square miles of it), without seeing 2 or 3 Teslas, 15 - 20 Mercedes (they're like Chevys there), a handful of Porsches, an Aston Martin or 2, a Maserati, & a Ferrari. I have seen an I8 & a couple Audi R8s, there, also. I've become pretty used to high end cars. What impresses me now, is bitchen street rods, customs, & street machines, at the Friday night cruise night, during the summer.
  5. Larry Miller passed away 6 years ago. The Larry H. Miller Group has decided to close the park, Oct. 31 of this year. They lease the land it's on, it's lost Millions of dollars from the start, & it would just be a matter of time, before the track became a nuisance to the new neighborhoods that are being built around it. I had the pleasure of shooting a Grand Am race, there, several years ago. It was the only race that I got sunburned, soaked to the skin, & hailed on, all in the same race. It's a great track, with several configurations, up to 4+ miles. The race I covered used the long course & I walked the entire course, during the race. The media relations people were second to none. They even had warm chocolate chip cookies, in the press room. Unfortunately, they served those, while the on track events were happening (when I was out shooting). Luckily, my wife (the writer & my partner in crime), saved me some cookies. One of the high points of the weekend was meeting Nigel Mansel, who's sons were racing in Formula Atlantic, that was also running that weekend. A beautiful track & it will be missed.
  6. I build 1:25/1:24 for the same reason I built small block Chevys, back in my hot rodding days. I have a ton of parts for them & the aftermarket caters to them. Plus, they take up less space, in my display case, than larger scale. I do have a couple 1:20 F1 cars, a couple 1:16/1:12 scale models, that were given to me, & a Pocher Fiat, I inherited from my dad.
  7. My wife & I will be taking a road trip, this summer, from SoCal to Mt. Rushmore & back. We plan to spend a couple days in Salt Lake City. I will be taking in the Model Car Museum & the Museum, at Miller Motorsport Park, in Tooele, UT. (south west of SLC). It features a ton of Cobras, Ford GTs (the real ones), & even a Thunderbolt Fairlane (at least the last time I was there). A great museum. Get there, if you can. Miller Motorsport Park is scheduled to close this October.
  8. As said before, models of the same scale vary. I was thinking of building a 32 Ford sedan delivery, with an old Switchers body & Revell chassis & parts. Put side by side, the Revell 32 was huge.
  9. At first, I thought the pictures were of a real car, you used for inspiration. Beautiful work. Very realistic.
  10. I use a toothpick to apply super glue. I put a drop of super glue on a CD-R (I bought a 100 stack, on sale), then dip in the toothpick & apply as much or as little as I need.
  11. I like it too. It's like Funny Cars were, back then. Simple, basic, no nonsense, race cars. Great job on trasnslating that, in scale.
  12. I too, would like to build this car. If you could get your friend to print up decals, lmk, I'd buy a set or 2. Beautiful job, btw. The picture, from teh other angle is an iconic photo, that has always been etched into my mind, since the 1st time I saw it.
  13. The 100 MPG (200 & 300 variations) is an urban legend. It never existed. They can't even get that kind of milage out of electronic fuel injection & computer controls. How can you expect that from an outdated unsophisticated carburetor?
  14. What do you mean, back in the day? I still build them like that. Jeff
  15. I don't think they'd want a muscle car. They're into what they're into & they think it's cool. Who am I to tell them what to do? Different strokes, for different folks. More power to them. Jeff
  16. I've got stuff from the late 80's, that I haven't worked on SINCE the late 80's but I don't think those count. I used to do high detail, kit bash, kind of builds, that took 2 or 3 months, working on them, 3 or 4 hours a day. Now I don't get as much bench time, not so detailed builds take 2 or 3 months. That's if they even get finished before "Modelers ADD" sets in & I start something else. Jeff
  17. First off, fantastic work. I'm amazed. How did you cut this tiny part, from the rod you machined it from? How did you keep from losing it when you cut it off? I would imagine after working 2 1/2 hours, on it, dropping it would be the worst thing ever. I have a hard enough time finding part 3 or 4 time the size, when dropped. Jeff
  18. The Avenger was a kit produced by Fiberfab, in the early 60's. It was based on a VW & was a Ford GT clone. They also had a kit, with a custom frame, that used a mid mounted V8. It didn't have anything to do with the Avenger TV series. It was just named Avenger. Jeff
  19. It's good to hear it's not just me, too. 9 times, out of 10, if I have a major problem, it's during final assembly. The other 2 are painting. Jeff
  20. At least you have 3 kits. If the tube subframe, doesn't work out, you can pull out another chassis & be back at square one. Jeff
  21. Usually, it's a project that snowballs out of proportion. It starts out as a simple, out of the box, build. Then, the kit wheels & tires aren't right. How about an engine swap? Measure 3 times, cut twice, & the engine is still crocked. Before you know it, you have a bench full of cut up plastic, I'm in over my head, or I figure it'll take 2 years to finish. Then, it's back in the box, stand in front of the wall o' kits, to decide which one is next. The last "victim", actually was out of the box but I just wasn't excited about the subject. I will finish it, later. I boxed it up, grabbed another kit, & started to get into the snowball mode but caught myself. I'm now back to, out of the box with a simple wheel & tire swap. Those ones usually get finished. Jeff
