This is the start to some scratch built fuel tanks for it
I'll machine some end caps for it from bar stock to for inside the tubing and tig weld them on them machine the welds off smooth and polish them. I'll laser cut some .020 stainless straps for them and machine some filler necks from bar stock as well.

Hoping someone sees this before I leave work for the day need the over all length of the revall gemany kw w900 wrecker. Or whatever size tank would be typical for a truck of that type. I am not a "truck" moddeler by any stretch just a car guy looking for a change of scenery haha. Scratch building new tanks out of aluminum tubing and round bar for the end caps and rig weld the caps on. Just need the length to cut the tubing

No pictures tonight but a small update, made some headway stripping my previous attempt at a paintjob so thats encouraging. I may not need that new cab/hood afterall. Also started plumbimg the engine. Got a few of the injector lines bent and mounted. Started polishing the tubing for the stacks and front bumper as well.

This is my first real attempt at a heavy truck model so be gentle.
I actually started this kit over a 3 years ago but due to some paint snafu's it got boxed up till this week,
Thanks to the phenomenal customer service from revell ill have a new cab/hood on the way soon so i started tackling the wrecker body. As my username may suggest im a machinist by trade so ill be making some goodies for it. Going to see how good i can machine a set of hydraulic cylinders for the boom, otherwise ill use the kit ones. Heres a few pictures of my very limited progress so far.

Thanks! That will be a big help.

Hello all, first time heavy truck modeler here.
Im in need of some good reference pics of the frame and brake setups to see where all the air and hyd lines go cause i dont know didly about big trucks. Good pictures of a 3408 cat would be great as well.
Looking for a kenworth specifically but i suppose any make would do as all line routing would be more or less the same?
Thanks.
