  1. I can't think of an Olds kit of Harry's. The one I have is the 1985 Skoal Monte Carlo. They also made a Mac Tools Lumina IIRC. Bruce hit the nail on the head about the tobacco rides I think. Somewhere in the late '80s they quit issuing the kits with tobacco and beer sponsorships. Probably thought it was a bad influence on the kids. LOL
  2. Great job on the build! 43 hours on the decals?! Man, that's going the full ten yards but it looks like it was time well spent. That was a magical month for him. I made one trip to North Wilkesboro and it was the one Earnhardt won to break his streak. It was almost another Harry Gant show though. He had the field covered leading 350 of the 400 laps until Earnhardt took the lead with 9 to go. I still have the pictures I took. Good memories(I am still a huge Earnhardt Sr. fan). Of course who couldn't like Harry. I have a kit of his to build. I wish racing now was still like it was then.
  3. Both kind still use the front wheels to turn the car. Front steer and rear steer in this instance refers to where the tie rod joins the A-frame. A front steer car would join toward the front of the car on the A-frame and a rear steer car joins at the back of the A-frame.
  4. If PLA meant the same then as it does now, it is Polylactide or Polylactic Acid, according to Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polylactic_acid Polylactide is one of the most popular materials for 3D printing, quoting the article. This article explains how to paint PLA printed items: https://3dinsider.com/how-to-paint-pla/ Amazon has a listing for Testors Pla 1156 paint thinner: https://www.amazon.com/Testors-1156-Pla-thinner-4-oz/dp/B004GJBWVM I don't know if they are the same but to me it would be logical to presume that they are. Someone who is adept at 3D printing may be able to help sort this out.
  5. Very cool. I didn't know they used to include these.
  6. Very helpful info to understand why it happens. Thanks Pete!
  7. Looks good so far. Then dig it out. Here you can get a better set than the kit decals: https://www.mikesdecals.com/coors-bill-elliott-1984-powerslide-p-3479.html It contains decals to make his 1984, 1985 or 1986 cars.
  8. Model Car Garage makes a vinyl top kit. I have one but I haven't used it yet. https://www.modelcargarage.com/eshop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=63
  9. Outstanding job! Under the hood and the underneath is very detailed and the decals look fantastic!
  10. I had a similar thing happen with the Moebius Lone Star kit. The top piece for the cab was like that. I sent them a couple pics by email and had a replacement within a week. Great customer service in my opinion.
  11. Superb job! Very sharp and clean.
  12. Nice! And very well done!
  13. The Ace Hardware here carries the Rusto 2x. It is a few cents more than at Walmart.
  14. Thanks Art. I ordered a set to see if they will look right.
  15. Art, fantastic job on a scheme I always thought was sharp. Great info on how to correct the issues on the car. I have a question about the tire decals. Are they aftermarket or are they in the kit? I have 5 cars from this era I'm looking to do and can' t seem to find this style of Goodyear decal. Thanks in advance.
  16. I found a link to the car that shows a square shot from the rear but still can't tell exactly the number. https://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_13364-Chevrolet-Camaro-1972.html Scroll down to the comments and you'll find the pic. What I think I can make out is "PCS 311" in red letters on a cream colored plate but I'm not positive. Maybe someone that's knowledgeable about Photoshop could tell what it says. Here's the pic: After watching the vids on YouTube, in daylight the letters look black on a cream tag so I'm not sure.
  17. I ran across this and thought it was cool. A lot of info I had never seen. https://www.hemmings.com/stories/2020/05/13/was-chevys-rear-engine-xp-819-really-a-contender-for-the-corvette-badge-or-was-it-something-else-entirely/amp
  18. Sorry I haven't updated since the 4th but I've been sick with my yearly spring sinus infection. I felt considerably better today so I went to check on the brood and found the nest empty. Not seeing any in the garage, I sat in a chair and watched the sky for about 10 minutes and saw a couple of them flying around the house. They were about have the size of the other birds. Now I have to clean an unbelievably large amount of bird poo out of the garage. Not looking forward to that. Thanks to all who were watching and I apologize for not getting pics since my last post.
  19. Great looking ride done very well.
  20. I took a couple of pics today. First one are the babies in the nest. Second is Mama sitting on a fencepost fussing at me while I was putting cardboard over the wire mesh. I was really careful to try to disturb the nest as little as possible.
  21. I don't get people fascination with wanting to shop pics like this. What is wrong with posting a pic of the real thing? Wow, you can do a crappy job of making something that never existed. Whoowee!! Rant over.
  22. Great job on your paint and decals. It will look fantastic when it is finished.
