  1. That color should help show the body lines well.
  2. I like the stance and the color you mentioned. The wheel well openings are so large on this maybe some larger diameter wheel & tire combination if you can find one you like. The wheels and tires you have now look good, just to small of a diameter on proportion to the opening.
  3. As my mother once said, "You can tell the men from the boys by the size of their toys". I guess this would apply to how heavy your wallet is as well.
  4. I also wouldn't use any type of polishing compound before spraying a clear coat. I know some of the polishes say it will not interfere, but after all of the other efforts to achieve the perfect finish why take the chance? The only thing I might add would be if working with some heavy metallic colors. Depending on how the metallic in the paint it may be an idea to give the finish one last smooth coat of color. As long as it dries smooth, and level then go to your clear and you should still have little or no surface problems before the final polishing.
  5. The restoration of this car has been covered in a few magazines. Since the Monterey Concours has invited iconic Hot Rods and Kustoms to appear in the Concours they are finally being recognized for what they are and the history that goes with so many of them. The background on many of these cars are just as interesting and sometimes even more intriguing than the Classics shown on the grass at Monterey.
  6. Looks like a great combination. Maybe a little better lit setting would show your build in a better light.
  7. great looking replica of your son's truck. The bed box looks just like the 1:1.
  8. Very convincing looking Hill Climber. Great background story for your inspiration for this build. I like how you got all the related sponsor's livery.
  9. Beautiful looking Nomad. I like the subject and especially the way you built this. Great color choice and paint finish. Clean trim and nicely detailed engine.
  10. I got to see this model on display at the K.C. Slammers swap meet & show a couple of years ago. As nice as the pictures are they just can't capture how good it looks in person. I still keep a picture on my cell phone of this build.

Great looking reproduction of an old family heirloom. Always fun to build something with an interesting past.
  12. Wind. I feel your pain. Had to go looking for the cover for the BBQ that sits on the back patio.
  13. The AMT Studebaker Avanti, the Revell Starski and Hutch Ford Torino both had nice Ansen Sprint style wheels. They are chromed in the kits but that is easily change.
  14. Beautiful looking Chevrolet. Good looking color scheme.
  15. Great looking wagon. I like the showroom look and the 6-cylinder engine. Going to have to have one of those trailers.
  16. Great looking paint work shows the body lines well.
  17. Really clean looking build.
  18. AMT also put the chassis information on their models as well. They only did this on Ford products and may have had to do with any licensing agreements they had with Ford. This is only my opinion, but I think this may be a Promo. My reasoning is 1. The size of the axels and the lack of optional ride heights. 2. The engine plate that looks as if it is a filler instead of a complete engine as you might find in a kit. Either way it's cool looking, great find.
  19. AMT used to offer one in some of its kits back when they were still using metal axles that passed thru the engines.
  20. One thing I would add on treating the derided Orange Peel. When it first appears stop applying paint. Let the paint fully dry and then start some light color sanding. Depending on how bad it is this is when you consider, do I sand the object smooth and apply another coat or is it time for the "purple pond". Appling additional coats of paint in hopes that it well somehow level its surface is just going to make the paint thicker and will not stop the orange peel. Additional coats of clear has the same effect as too many coats of paint that has an orange peel finish. I build on a cool basement, temperature wise, and have found that warming the paint before applying and holding the spray can or air brush close to the item you're spraying. Spraying paint at too far away allows the paint to start to dry in the air and is to dry when it lands on the object you're painting to dry smoothly. I would suggest practicing different painting methods on an old body or plastic spoon till you find a way that works for you.
  21. I like the showroom appearance. Great paint and color.
