  1. working on a pitch deck. wish i was in my shop

  2. It's amazing. Really and truly. May I ask how long you have been building/how old you are? I'm in my mid 40s and wonder if I can ever get to this level. I want to so badly.
  3. What previous experience do you have. I need to know! Lol
  4. Sorry, I ready thru and got my answer. Incredible work. How did you know how to do this? Do you have engineering skills? I would love to know how someone who has never milled before (great machine btw: full-size ta boot) can get these results? How did you plan the pieces? THANKS
  5. LOVE THIS!!! Are youy using CNC or doing manually?
  6. Hi all, Not sure if this is the right area for this topic, but here goes. As I read books on tabletop machining and prepare to purchase a Sherline setup, I'd love to see some of your machined parts for inspiration. What have you made? How have you incoporated into your builds? THANKS
  7. Thanks all. Sometimes you have to do things twice to get it right. I chose a textured paint to approximate that 60s crackle. I think the clear plexy is a much better solution to the 5-min epoxy for lenses. I got differernt sized punches from Micromark and what a difference! I will try and get some more work done this weekend. I have to make new window glass. The kit fit is awful. Jon
  8. Hi all. I rebuilt the dash. Was not happy with the 5-min epoxy. So redid gauges this time making plexi-disc for lenses. Not PE key
  9. Looks Great! Love the paint choice!
  10. Hey Ed, I will try and find the wire and post a pic. In the meantime, I thought I'd post a few more pics of the build since you guys seem so interested, which I REALLY appreciate.
  11. Thanks Ed! Believe it or not it's painted electrical wire I stripped. Rod was too big. Lol
  12. Great info! Any thoughts on this machine and the asking? http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/yrk/tls/3261014495.html
  13. Greetings all, Thinking about learning how to mill my own metal parts. I have been reading a little, looking at some videos, and checking out the Sherline site. I think some of you folks mill your own stuff. And I am wondering what's the best way to get started? I am not an engineer, I am a advertising writer. So the CNC stuff looks pretty daunting to me. BUT I am dying to make my own velocity stacks, engine blocks etc. I think it's something I can learn to do. There is a great shop near my work that has a very nice Sherline package of both a milling machine and lathe, with all the necessary attachments. Pretty pricy @ 2900. Thoughts? Thanks for your help!
  14. Thanks so much guys! WOW @ Cato, I just had to put those tubes in. The original parts were full chromed and solid. Just doesn't look right. @ George, thanks. Any chance I could see a pic of your build? I'll keep you posted as I work to finish soon(er). Jon
  15. Thanks guys! This is an old Monagram 1:24 kit I bought on Ebay. I dont think it's a particularly great kit. There was a ton of sink holes in the body that need repair. The chrome plating was terrible, necessitating stripping of everything, and some key detail parts were missing, like that topedo blower in the engine. Having said that, I love the subject. AND because the kit is kinda crappy, it forces me to hone my skills. I am new to building and I love the challenge of making it look realistic. All the engine details are scratch, and the tire strap is something I have never done before. Making that roller tongue buckle too some practice as you can see from my failed attempts. I'll keep you posted on the progress. I am in the home stretch! Thanks again Jon
  16. Hi guys, Been working on this model for a while as part of the Foreign CBP. But I think it's closing and I'm not done. So I thought I'd share the progress here. Love to hear any comments. THANKS
  17. Hi, not sure if anyone is looking here any more. But I made a roller tongue buckle and a leather strap for the spare wheel.
  18. Thanks guys, Great tips. I am going to try both ways. Jantrix, what type of Zona saw? There are many on their website. THANKS
  19. Hey guys, I am sure this has been covered before, but a search didn't turn up any useful results. I want to remove / shorten the driver's side door "glass" on the 1:24 Porsche 904 GTS I am building. I want the "viewer" to be able to get a good look at the interior without the reflection of pastic in the way. The formed part has botht the door glass and the rear quarter window as one piece. I want to remove / cut it in half without damaging the plastic. Thanks. Jon
  20. Oh man. Dont shut it down. I am back on the bench!
