  1. so the 81-85 monte carlo is essentially the same as the 1980 season caprice then?
  2. Sorry to hear you wont be finishing it as I have come to really admire your work. But glad will get to see them finished.
  3. Does anyone know if their is a caprice body resin or otherwise made from the 1980 series? I have looked around but cant find anything
  4. I quit the hobby before internet was popular, or even used much for that matter, it would take a day or two to download 1 song lol. To be able to watch someone go through a build such as his, to be able to catalogue their tips and tricks and share ideas with others is such a great thing for the hobby in general. Keep up the great work, I have been thrilled to follow this build.
  5. I love the effect on the mufflers. How was that achieved? Beautiful precision work all around.
  6. Anything you can match as close to DuPont 1975 Flame Red 43462K code 70 as it seems to be the most oft used colour. as it seemed to be the most often used colour. LEE1 was hemi orange. The following is a nice chat on what the colour is. http://www.hazzardnet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4667
  7. Did this project ever see completion? It was giving so much inspiration, being able to watch through the build process. Rom is such a great talent. If it has been completed does anyone have the link to a picture of it? AndI apologise for necroing an old thread. Derick
  8. I have always been a fan of the plum crazy purple. and have always been a sucker for this type of rim
  9. The least favorite part of model building for me is trying to get rid of all the injection mold pins, and flash and mold lines. Doesnt matter how much I sand, when it comes to prime, I have always missed some
  10. Oh wow, Flashback, I actually remember ordering some detail master products from Modelexpress backwhenI was in the hobby. The model I was working on was the Jeff Gordon JUrassic Park NASCAR. I got the window nets and seat belt harnesses. Great to see they are still around, will have them bookmarked for sure. Thanks for the heads up Rob, had forgot about them completely
  11. LOL looking through from the beginning I saw it was from 2010, all allong the way I was saying to myself someone is gonna be mad at me fro necro'ing this thread but I just have to it is freakin gorgeous. Thank you for necroing it for me haha. Romell what an amazing attention to detail. I think without a doubt this is the best pickup truck model I have ever seen. I hope one day I can build with the level of detail you have shown in this build. I also love the follow along on the build up. I love reading about and seeing how a model was built moreso than just looking at the actual finished product. Keep on keepin on Romell it is truly some inspirational work, Derick
  12. Thanks Peter, my sister-in-law lives in north bay so we sometimes take that route to come down to Toronto, so I may take a swing into Orillia and check it out. Maybe in April during my next round of appointmeents
  13. And I will definately, be posting pics of my first one back into the hobby. I was actually thinking of turning it into a blog, and chronicalling my build, showing what I did wrong, what I did write, how I fixed mistakes and things like that. The biggest issue I think will be keeping the pet hair off wet paint. My wife ownsa miniature zoo. 2 dogs, 1 cat, 2 iguanas, 1 bearded dragon, 1 red eared slider and a miriad of fish. so with all those animals my own 3 kids, and I have custody of my sisters 2 kids atm my Paint jobs will most definately be in peril LOL.
  14. Thanks for the tip Darryl, I was actually looking at Modellers choice, I just didnt have the time to make it there my last visit to Hamilton, My mom lives in Stoney Creek so I dont believe it is a far distance from where she lives. I am definately gonna have to save an extra day, and printo out some maps beforehand, or borrow someones GPS and find my way to these stores. I gre up in towns with no more than 2000 people most of my life, so driving around down in the hamilton/Toronto area makes me mental sometimes lol.
  15. Thanks for the info Skip, I am poking around quite a bit, and getting some good info. Unfortunately there are no hoobyshops or stores in my area whatsoever that sell anything plastic scale modelling related. I have gone so far as to travel to the closes tcity, Sudbury, ON. BUt was unable to find a good hobbyshop there that had what I need. Now I find it hard to believe that their isnt one, possibly it is just a mom and pop shop that is poorly advertised. On that note, do you know of any online stores that you Trust ordering from?
  16. I forgot to mention because I am on disability the budget is very tight Price will come into play when I buy the airbrush, so if any of you have come across an amazing cheap airbrush I should look at . awesome!
  17. My name is Derick i'm 35 years old. I was heavy into the hobby when I was a teenager, making mainly NASCAR models, and trying to detail them as much as possible, improvising with items from Radio Shack such as small wires for engine wiring and the like. I jave a disease called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis and as such am on disability. For Chritmas I received a small compressor for Christmas, it was mean tfor keeping my tires full of air on the vehicles at ome and stuff, but I remember looking at it and saying man that would have been a killer airbrush compressor for when I made models. Anyways, with all the apre time I have had from being on disability, I wanna get away from sitting on the computer all day and doing something productive with my time, Scouring this forum and a couple others has really given me the bug and I want to jump back into things. Now I know alot has changed since I stopped modelling approx 18 years ago, I went out yesterday and looked around my small town, and their is literally NOTHING Hobby related where I could get a good start, not even Zellers had anything. So I have a few questions. First off I am from Canada. So are there any stores in particular you have no issues ordering online from? I make trips down to the toronto hamilton area every 3 or so months, anyone know of any great plastic shops in that area? What kind of paints do you all recommend for brushng and airbrushing? I remember using the small testors bottles for dry brushing but never did like the results. Just before I quit I got into some Tamiya bottles for dry brushing they seemed to work better, but I didnt get alot of time with them. Any recommended airbrushes I should look at? what are the major companies producing models today? Are any companies still producing a decent NASCAR model? All I seem to be able to find are are snaptite models that dont seem to look to great. I will post new questions as they pop into my head. I think the toughest part will be rounding the items up to just get going. I wish their was a nice shop in my area =(. Anyways thanks all for the incoming help, in the meantime I will keep scouring hte sites. And get my subscritions going to MCM and SAE =D. I feel excited like a little kid again =D
  18. One of the best paint jobs and color schemes I have seen in a long time, Beautiful beautiful car.
  19. Wow what a sharp build. I really love that front end. Beautiful work.
  20. What a great first post to read to fuel my desire to get back into nascar modelling, and model car building in general. I have always wanted to do this but with Rusty Wallace's rides. Thanks so much for sharing your collection
