MCM Ohana (6/6)

  1. My latest: a fantasy Bubba Wallace Tuskegee Airmen scheme. Bubba has had Air Force sponsorship over the years, and he’s got it again this year, but a Tuskegee Airmen scheme was never run with Bubba as the driver. (Erik Jones did run one). I thought that was a missed opportunity, so after seeing a scheme on Trading Paints, I asked Sam Lopez of 3 Amigos Decals to create decals based on that. The car replicates the famous “Red Tails” P-51 Mustangs that the Tuskegee Airmen flew. The body is a 3D printed resin from Jay's Stock Cars.
  2. Inspired by the build Jay Savarese did that was recently bumped here, this is my version of Bubba's Doordash Camaro. Resin body from Jay's Stock Cars and MPR decals.
  3. Sorry for the huge pic. As a lark I recently purchased an older goalie figure produced by McFarlane and repainted, repositioned, and redecaled it to that of Boston Bruin Anton Khudobin. I made my own decals for this project and used most Apple Barrel craft paints. I had seen a customized figure on FB which inspired me to make my own.
  4. Aaah that's why I thought the rear window was straight. Learn something new every day.
  5. Huh. Apologies. I must have mixed it up with another model. Carry on.
  6. IIRC the actual car had a straight line at the bottom of the rear window, not the curved one we saw on the convertible kit. On the convertible it's not an issue because the cover conceals it, but I hope that's been fixed on the hardtop.
  7. If someone doesn't want to use the whitewall decals from this sheet, I'd take them (for use on another project.) Drop me a line if interested.
  8. I believe that Model Car Garage has a photoetch sheet with those louvers.
  9. Yes, all the Twister graphics come with the kit.
  10. Built from the new reissue of the Revell kit, with Scale Finishes Calypso Coral paint. All decals are straight from the kit.
  11. Why? Twisters were only in Calypso Coral, so the color wouldn't match either. I assume he used the side stripes because he wanted to and they looked cool, which is all the reason anyone needs.
  12. Yes, I'm working on mine now and it took less than 5 minutes to sand off the GT louvers on both sides of the body.
  13. Oh geez I totally missed that! I wish we got the expanded decal sheet in the NA releases, those seat insert and seat belt graphics look very nice indeed.
  14. Did anyone get the Revell of Germany version? I'm curious to see if they expanded the decal sheet for that version like they did for the Olds 442. I could use the silver seat inserts from that sheet if they are included and anyone has them.
  15. What are folks' preferred sources for Ford Calypso Coral paint that would be needed for the Twister Special?
