  1. thanks. i really like using the metal specks paints. they go on nice and smooth, dont run easily, and its only like $8 for a can (big ones too!) one can will last for between3-5 models depending on how many coats and how big the model is. is an automotive paint too and comes in six or seven different colors i think. so far ive used the orange and this blue.

  2. thanks for the comments. i made the rear seat cover from sheet and tube styrene.

the fat tires out back were part of the kit. and the lights were on lol. they just suck in the room that i took the pics in. it took quite a bit of work to get everything to fit together.

  3. ok guys this is my hemi dart that is almost box stock. the only mods are the very obvious roadster body, the wiring, and the dragster slicks in the rear tucked up and under the car. I didnt want to cut open the wheel wells so i made it so i didnt have to lol. enjoy, comments, concerns and questions welcome.

  4. hey guys here is my latest. its a 49 merc custom, i re-chopped the top, added peaks to the fenders that continue into the door lines, added body lines around the rear wheel openings and lowered it. i had some trouble with the paint again, i cant get candies right so far. otherwise it is definately my favorite build so far, enjoy.

the top is too low to get pics of inside and i forgot to before i fit it together.

  5. thanks for the tips. i do lay primer on first, and i have been using a silver base. on the last one i experimented with white, the color came out great but that is the one where it went on really thick. i have one in the works that i want to do candy blue so ill try out what you guys said with that.

here is a pic of one where the paint flecked off. i dont have any pics of the merc yet. (the thick one)post-9551-0-68338400-1334782750_thumb.jp

you can see on the corner of the hood area where it flaked. it happened a bit mor after the pic was taken.

i forgot, another problem that i seem to have alot with the candies is dark undertones, although i have to say usually i dont mind them as they seem to add a bit.

is the duplicolor a model paint or are we talking duplicolor auto paint? where can i get it?

  6. i love this build! you are a master artist!

i think you should route the exhaust out the back fender where the holes used to be for it to go in. not sticking out but flush with the fenders. i think it would look awesome if you can find a way to do it around the wheels and suspension. looking at your work im sure you could find a way. also i agree on the v16 or v12.

  7. Hi all,

i was wondering if anyone can help me out with spraying candies. i dont have an air brush, i just use rattle cans, cant afford the air brush. so any tips on how to do it right? the problems i always seem to have are that it chips off or it goes on way to thick and i end up losing panel lines. if it makes a difference (and im sure it does) ive been using testors enamels. pleaase help cause i really like the look of candies but im getting sick of paint bombs when i use them  . any help is appreciated!

    thanks

    marc

  8. i liked this build but i have to say i was a bit disapointed in two things a)the touneau cover doesnt fit all that well and B) there is no rear end or drive shaft. the underside could definately be a bit more detailed.

  9. thanks! yeah i already did another one, a 49 merc , that i have to get pics of. its the revell kit but i re-chopped it and did some other work. i like that one more its smooth but a bit of a paint bomb. i used candy from a rattle can and i always have some problems with it. im also working on a custom hemi dart roadster.

  10. ok so this one i know is a bit of a "bomb" i had this GTO kit laying around half complete since i was about 9 (im 22 now) i recently decided to finish it. i also had a 66 cobra kit that i bashed it with. this is the first time i tried any major custom touches and scratch built type of stuff. so please look past the bad paint :| as you can see i wedge chopped it, built custom roll pans front and back, removed all posts, lowered it, costom suspension, including a triangulated four bar, super long tube headers lol. and a custom interior. probably some other stuff im forgetting about.

    be gentle lol
