  1. Thanks guys, I got a bit burned out working on kits, been on a break, but with a new lowrider under construction I will be back on this soon ! And no it won't be allowed on the floor, I've banned it ! !
  2. couldnt agree more, I like the fact you both use as much imagination, as you do all these computer gadgets ! Your little pickup looks great, the inspiration pic is just stunning ! I kinda really like that black n white picture, the way it makes the whole car baremetal , thought of doing it like that ??
  3. If your interested look up a custom VW lowrider built by Bernnt ( I think? ) the guy from Sweden that used to work at Boyd Coddingtons. He built a show bug called the pink lady, chopped, widened, new front/rear end. It was WiLd, gullwing doors, Dayton's, and fur interior. I want to build a replica of it one day, one of the wildest beetle lowriders ever built !
  4. Looks super clean to me, great job I love the colour scheme !
  5. Looking good Mike, can't remember which kit it was but I had this problem of not sticking. I just marked along where the glue would go, and rubbed the line with rough sandpaper, really rough, so it scored grooves for the glue. It certainly helped, but I'm sure you've probably tried this already, jus thought I'd mention it ! Oh and that black Plymouth looks soooo Evil ....
  6. Love them pumps Luke, and that rear panel above the lights looks perfect ! Great work, looking forward to more..
  7. Thanks guys ! Luke, funny you mention Tingos, I was blown away with his interiors and Ive been trying them out ever since ! Eric, thanks mate nice to hear some people on here like these old style interiors too ! Lloyd, cheers for following along, thanks again for the pegasus link on eBay , they do look good ! Bob, Dave, I'm slowly getting the hang of interiors, but the paint I'm still in need of more practice. Hopefully I can come up with something good, I'm going to practice when the weather warms up a bit ! And Shawn, where you been? Thanks bro glad your still around I haven't heard of you in a while !
  8. So on with the interior, the floor was covered in plastic sheet to get a flat base, and a piece of plastic, cut to shape, made up for the rear seat support. The centre console is again plastic strip covered in chrome card, marked into strips, and added along with all the other fur, felt, and glitter card ! The strip of plastic across where the dash goes is to support the new scratched dash I'm working on ! After several attempts I'm liking this now, it kind of evolves as you add a piece, rip a bit out and redo it, then add new bits. I'm going to redo the front seats in a different colour, and eventually have the dash, door panels, boot floor, headliner and inside the boot and bonnet all matching. More soon, thanks for looking in......
  9. Thanks Dave, Lloyd and Luke, appreciate the replies.... So the wheels arrived from the States, very pleased I am too !
  10. If your only going to finish one, make it a good un' !! That 55 is immaculate, lovely job. How much was rechromed, I assume the bumpers, how bout the wheel covers etc ?? PS, get some more pics of it please !
  11. Your skills are just as good as I've seen on here Jonathan, looks great to me ! Bet your Dad was well pleased with this, tell him he's got a lovely car too ! Looking forward to more of your builds now !
  12. After hassle with photobucket I think its ok again, so a sneek peek update ! Weathers too cold for painting so I started on one of my favourite bits, interior. Now I know some of you don't like lowriders, so a fur and mirror tiled interior wont be popular, but hey, I love em ! Heres the front seats, although I may redo these soon to get the buttons more straight, bottom parts in yellow are deep buttoned too, but don't show up in the pics? ......
  13. That works really well, one of those 'why didn't I think of that' type models, simple idea but it looks great ! Love those wheels n tyres, where are they from ??
  14. Ahh! Very clever, they look great thanks for sharing the tip !
  15. Way cool !! How did u do the connections on the front rams ?? I'm still working on my interior, but can't post pics cos photo bucket keeps crashing or throwing up adverts....
  16. As someone else mentioned, we can learn just as much watching people mess up paint jobs, as we can watching someone get it right first time ! The biggest problem I have with lowrider paint jobs is designing something I'm truly happy with, and then its trying to paint what you can picture in your head ! Keep going Lloyd were all learning with you here, ain't no shame in getting it wrong, its how the best painters become the best by trial and error....
  17. Man thats a cool paint job ! Clever idea masking up again with BMF, must have taken you ages but well worth the effort ! Love that gold leaf, how do you lay that down without it snapping ?? You know I'm a fan of your work Eric, looking forward to more 'show cars' from you....
  18. Thanks Chris and Lloyd, i look forward to seeing both your 64s take shape ! Quick confession, i messed up a little ! Take a look at the hinges picture above, the top hinge hits the dashboard ! After moving it twice, then trying suicide doors, i gave up. Simple bent bars will hold the door open permanately, i will post pics when its done... Good news is, the hinge didnt fit because im scratch building the dash, seats, head liner, door panels and carpet. And the boot set-up too ! Lets just say Ive got a pile of felt, chrome card, and some big ideas ! ! So the interior has been basically smoothed, arm rests, handles etc, and i made up panels to create the inside of the boot. Smoothed some lumps off the floor etc, oh and cut the door panel wider, see the pics it makes more sense..... more soon.....
  19. Well I LOVE the wheels, and the LOWRIDER style ! Great job on this, nice paint job too ! Now get yourself another lowrider model and come join the CBP ! Be great to have you there !
  20. Really nice build of a very beautiful car ! Personally I'm glad to see these kind of models built, how much more enjoyment you got from actually building it. Leaving it untouched in the box is like owning a Ferrari and never driving it...
  21. Thanks for the replys guys ! Lloyd, if you want to cut the door out on these, be very careful !!! The quarter window is very delicate, I was lucky to have a spare body to hack up. Also notice in the pic above the open door doesn't match up with the interior ! Rear part is OK but the front of the doorcard is too short, the door line on the interior should be further forward. Not putting you off, if your careful it should be fine.
  22. Thanks for the replys guys, and thanks Lloyd ive ordered some Pegasus rims, they are on their way ! Cut the interior panel out for the open door, and made a simple hinge for it. Where the hinge is attached to the body, the hinge support is straight and the body curved, so i made a flush fitting panel to help support the hinge. See pics to explain !
  23. Lloyd, for your first true lowrider, what's better than a 64 Impala ! I didn't want to fill this thread up with pics of just my build, so Ive started a WIP for my 64 'on the workbench'... It explains about the door and hopefully a few handy tips for building these rides ! Look forward to seeing yours take shape, I finally got my pegasus rims on order too.
  24. Coming along really well, the mock up looks as hard as nails ! Keep it up I'm following this one !
