Thanks for the pics of your very nice build! They'll be helpful to me when I start restoring my old , incomplete SMP 1911 Chevy

I would suggest getting ahold of an AMT 23-25 Model T kit.  There are lots of parts in those kits that can help complete this one. I'll look forward to seeing yours.

I can see from that photo that your daughter clearly has great potential , and her skill must be directly inherited from her father. There is a lot of detail packed into that small space !

Thank you everyone.  I've shared these posts with her and she just grins.  David, you are right. I don't know the scale of her model for sure but I would have to say around 1/32 or so. Clearly it is small as the whole diorama is about a 4-5" square, at most.

Looks nice, good work. Does she have one of the doll houses that dad builds and paints ? I built a 10 room 3 story one for my sister years ago. Took me the better part of a year.

No. This is 100% her. The only thing I have done for her is to show her how to prop things in place, or clamp them so the dry as she wants.

  4. First off this is not automobile related but I thought you all would appreciate this effort.  My daughter Olivia builds room dioramas. This is her most recent build. Every one of them has gotten better, neater and more precise.  I think she has a very bright modeling future.  Her dad (me) is very proud of her. 20220203_215358.thumb.jpg.4b8748eafcaa449cf7af7a6608a821eb.jpg

  5. I like this one. I agree with the others that your colors work very well. I saw this car (the 1:1) running at OCF maybe 5-7 years ago and it was incredible.  I would love to see the Henry Ford restore it to its original color combination,  given the financial status of most major museums today I doubt it will ever happen.  Again,  great model.

  6. I like it. I have been sort of looking for a chance to add a 1:1 Corvair to my collection.  Your model reminds me of what I want one...especially if I found a car that was a great color like that.

Nice build of an unusual subject! Refreshing to see some brass era stuff posted. What kit is the Model T Coupelet in the background?

Good eye. The Coupelet is an Aardvark/Model Martin transkit. It included the body, interior. Top, hood, radiator, fenders and litte doo-dads like top irons and door handles. Andy Martin is a contributor here and could address the question in more detail.

In the case of my build, I used the '25 Ford Model T Runabout for the chassis, running gear and wheels. I had Chrometech plate the small parts brass but they seem to have disappeared so I am not sure who I would use now. Hope that helps a little.

I saw Mike C's before yours, great to see another one that was finished.  Clean build, and you got a nice flat sheen on the plastic tires.

I should drag out this long dead WIP and finish it.

Yes, you should finish this one. I for one would love to see it.

  9. Many of you are probably familiar with the Tonka street scene diorama featuring, among other things, a 1913 Ford Touring car. Over the years I have placed a number of completed brass era cars in this scene.  It only seemed fitting to see how my newly finished 1911 Chevrolet Touring would look in there. Not too bad in my opinion. I need to try to get some working lights for this diorama. 20220117_220500.thumb.jpg.a88d3b42768749575926d409f62c96b3.jpgEnjoy.
