Scale I Build

  1. Inspiration for this build: The 2022 Cannonball Run Year of Birth Build Thread WIP: 1961 Mercedes Benz 190SL - Revell with a few modifications Diorama: California Pit Stop, I switch out the cars depending on the car. This time it's like a shake down run with the Mercedes club, stopping somewhere in CA.
  2. Hi guys, Sharing with you today an old built, made by Modelhaus. This is the '61 Cadillac Coupe series 62. It's now very very rare and I regret I haven't buy more than one at the time, to make a convertible or an Eldorado from it. I built it around 10 years ago, not pristine but presentable, IMHO. I also regret, (and I am sure I'm not the only one here), that Modelhaus is not around anymore....the quality was excellent. I am glad that they made amazing hubcaps for that model, way better that what Jo-Han's made for its 1961 Fleetwood. Enjoy !
  3. I did the conversion on this model about two years ago. I got it into prime and then let it sit for a few months. I wet sanded it and painted it red about a year ago. I used Dupli-color Chevrolet Torch Red and urethane automotive clear. That sat for about another year. I figure by now everything is good to handle! So I took it out and started work on it last night. I’ll add some pictures with the chrome foil later today. I realize last night that the door panels may not be correct for a 61. I’ll probably go with the 58 door panels instead. Which means prime and paint but no clear.
  4. So this past Saturday, I purchased a 1961 IMAI KAGAKU Ferrari 365P Kit 1/16 Scale Kit, at an estate sale for $4. It's in the original box, but the top of the box has a rip maybe 12" long. It seems their sons at one point started to build it, but never finished. I haven't double checked yet, but it seems all of the pieces are there. Most of the pieces are still in the plastic sheets, not yet broken off, but they started to build the body (back in the 1960's that is). (There was even a roll of old tape in the box, I didn't know it was tape at first, because it looked like a bronze metal ring stuck to the box. I guess that's what 57 year old tape looks like!) In your opinions, would it be worth more to keep it as it is? Or to assemble it. Where is the best place to find fair offers? Thanks! -New & Interested
  5. Last year I purchased this '61 Ford Galaxie Styline kit. I didn't know much about it, other than the fact that it was a Galaxie and I love Galaxies! I was pretty bummed at first to realize that it's not very detailed and has no engine or chassis to assemble and the interior is very simple. None the less, I decided that it would be a nice kit to try some different techniques I had learned on the forum. Also an excellent opportunity to practice my painting skills. This was the first kit that I had tried to scribe the panel lines and add depth to them. I went a bit overboard and ended up gouging the hood. I had some Testors putty laying around and it just doesn't work right for me. I tried the Tamiya putty and it seemed to work great! I'll add some Vallejo acrylic black wash to the lines and see how that goes! The body has been primed with Rust-oleum plastic primer. I also wanted to try a different brand/type of primer, so I figured I'd use it. So far, it wasn't laying down too thick. I have to sand down the putty and spray a second coat. We'll see how it goes! Here's the body thus far! I'll add some more later on! Thanks for looking and as always, feedback is appreciated!
