Scale I Build

  1. Good Evening, I am brand new to this site and forum. I used to put together model cars as a teenager just to occupy my OCD, but hadn't done one in YEARS until a few weeks ago. I threw together an '07 Shelby GT500 in just a few days, not putting any effort in. That build brought back the itch, so I needed to do more. The other night I grabbed the '69 Camaro kit to work on. Unfortunately this is going to be another quick build, without the detail I really want. I'm not in a financial position to get all the extra tools and things that I want/need to really slow down and do a great build. Not working with any primer, sanding, etc for now, though I hope to be able to collect these things for future builds. I am still trying to enjoy taking the time and hopefully doing an acceptable job. Below are some pics; I started with the engine block, and added quite a few of the added parts. Any comments, tips, or critiscism is welcome. I'll be posting more as I progress with the project.
  2. Really enjoyed building this kit. The interior used upholstery inserts from Scale Motorsports I think the air cleaner is from Model Car Garage Next couple of kits I'm going to try Marcos Cruz' scribing process for panel lines. I think it will help for these darker colored cards.
  3. Ever since I found out they were making the model, I've been excited for it. I think this is the best year for the Camaro from a styling stand point. This was one of the best kits I've ever built. The pieces fit good and everything is there. There were plenty of decals as well. I only had two issues with the kit: 1. While there was a hole in the transmition for the drive shaft, there was not one in the axle of my model. So I drew some blood trying to put one in for it. I don't know if something went wrong with the molding of mine or not. But it was an issue. 2. The other issue was the tires. They have pins which have to be inserted into them. They didn't fit onto the rimes right and it took a lot of playing with it so the tires would be straight. Over all though, I was happy with the kit.
  4. Hello, I am new here to the forums and this is my first post. After several years away from building model cars as a kid, I recently decided to jump back into the hobby. I am trying to build one model a month and have so far built two cars and two trucks. I will post the trucks in the pick-up truck section. This is my first model after many years. It is a box-stock AMT 2006 Chevrolet Camaro Concept. I painted the exterior with Testor's Purple Gloss and the interior with Black Gloss (kit came molded in red). I painted the roof to look like the car had a T-top. This model was built back in March 2014. Overall, this was fun kit to build and I am fairly happy with the way it turned out. Yeah, I know it looks pretty bad but that's alright with me (first model in years)! This next model is a Revell Dodge Magnum SRT8. The exterior is painted with Testor's Red Gloss and the interior with Red, Silver, and Black Gloss. I personalized this model a bit by painting the fenders, skirts, lower parts of the bumpers, and the tail lights with Black Gloss, which was a pretty big modification for me at the time. This was built in May 2014. I am really happy on how this one turned out. That is all for now. Hope you all liked them! Currently working on a not-box-stock AMT 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS (Jack Reacher Issue). Thanks!
  5. Hi! This was the kit i started as i register on this forum a year ago. Have had some issues on the way, been putting it away and pulling it back million times. I tried to figure out a theme for it,did not want huge chromed wheels, and make it look bagged,i do like the style sometimes tho. So it is supposed to represent somthing you can drive everyday, haul down the dragstrip or throw around the track. Drivetrain is LS7 with two massive turbos, this linked to an 6speed manual, big brembo brakes, some meaty tires, the wheels are 17". The body is stock besides shaved markers, door locks, the rear wing, the front spoiler, and it`s lowered and given some agressive camber. Inside is stock beside Viper Coupe seats. I have not finished the exhaust, still waiting on some styrene rods. Color is Tamiya white pearl, the primer is actually red, this is why it looks grey. Then there are decals (i was unlucky some places) from Firebird Design if i remember right. Not everyones cup of tea,but here is some pics.
  6. Box Stock Revell Kit with the exception of Wheels & Tires from a Vette and I changed the exhaust and added tips. Paint is Testors "Toxic Orange" over black with their wet look clear. The Toxic orange is a close match to the factory "Sunset Orange" . Interior is 2 tone black and grey.
  7. I have yet another question regarding the 1969 COPO ZL-1 Camaro from Revell . I recognise that this kit has de facto SS/RS grille / headlamp doors , as well as RS tail lamps ; however , it is "missing" the RS's back-up lamps . I also have noticed that there's a set of clear , square 'lamps' on the "glass" tree ; are those the RS's back-up lamps ? If so , how would one go about adding them to this COPO ZL-1 Camaro kit ?
  8. Just picked up a IROC-Z Camaro made by Monogram in 1985. The kit # is 2610. Don't see many out there. Anyone had this or know value?
  9. I gave this kit to the wife for Christmas as her first kit. I prepped, primered, & painted the body & she built it. The kit stripes are stickers so I couldn't get them to lay totally flat. Thinking about either removing them altogether or replacing them with waterslide decals. Any suggestions? Sorry for the blurriness of these pics. Still trying to get the lighting figured out.
  10. My finished p/s camaro. Fully wired and plumbed. I added valve stem on rims. 1st time I have detailed one this much, I hope you enjoy looking,
  11. Just got mine today....I've been waiting to build a new version of this car, I've got a few good builds on the old kit but looking forward to a brand new sealed box. No more missing this piece or broken this and that I get when I buy the old kits on eBay.
  12. I had some issues with this build, luckily I had a little help from hawk 312, as im sure you know his are some of the best around so I had some pretty good tips, i liked the color it was molded in so I actually have no paint on it, just a ton of polish and wax. The pics dont really show the finish but in person you could never tell it wasn't painted and cleared. I also got the idea of the window sticker from hawk, thanks man. I cant wait to start the build of the new foose I got. This one will get the full paint and polish treatment.
  13. Hey guys here is my first post on the site ive been watching and learning so much new stuff, i have been building since 6 years old but once i got a real car at 16 the models slowed down ... well ive built several real cars ( 5.0 mustang, ranchero, miata, etc) and its time to get back into the models. With 3 jobs its hard to find time but luckly the real estate business slows down a bit during the winter and no body wants to work on a real car when its cold so models it is, i am currently working on the 69 Yenko from 2 fast 2 furious and will be posting it under work in progress, i have picked up as many of the f&f series cars that i can find and here are a few that are already done. The Charger I built about 8 years ago so dont judge me lol j/k ill take any advice i can The Supra I had started it 8 years ago right after the charger but boxed it up and opened it back up last winter The mustang this one I started after the supra last year but got distracted by the ford turbo 2.3 1980's kit that i found on e bay so that was the project that ended last winter, 2 weeks ago i got back on the mustang and finished it a couple days ago. Thats it so far the yenko is in progress and after that comes the eclipse, monte carlo, lightning, and any others that i havent picked up yet. Thanks for looking at my post. Carlos
  14. This is a 1/25th scale Camaro by revel that has been forgotten about.
  15. I was wondering if anyone makes the decals for the "Grumpys Toy" XVIII COPO Camaro? http://www.gkmotorsports.com/gallery/nhra-stock-eliminator-copo-camaro/ I'd like to build this model. I already mocked it up and it looks pretty sweet
  16. Is there anyone who make the the 69 Camaro hood with no cowl? Flat hood?
  17. Hey. This is the Revell snap kit with Pegasus wheels with different sized tired front to back for a slight rake. Keith Marks decals were also added. Paint and clear are Testors One Shot "lacquer". I went back and painted the windshield wipers after Itook these pictures. Thanks for lookin'.
  18. Well, this is my first completed build for 2013. I took the AMT Kit 2006 Chevrolet Camaro Concept and turned it into a SEMA Show Car. I was originally going to build this car as a "What If" for when the 2010's came out, but I was a tad late in finishing it for that. So I turned directions. Engine is the kit stuff painted in 2011 GM Hugger Orange (fitting for the car) with nothing else done to it. The interior is done in red and white with the red inserts being MicroCloth Medical Tape colored Red. Carpeting is low pile dollhouse carpeting which I gotta find some more of. Exterior is DupliColor MetalSpeck Orange and Satin White over DupliColor MetalSpeck Silver Base over a Black Hot Rod Primer. Wheels are from Pegasus, called Hellas in 19" and 23". Enjoy and Thanx for following.
  19. After more cussing and swearing, and a couple of drinks, it is finished. This thing was put up when it was 3/4 finished over 10 years ago. I get it back out and it only takes me a week to finish it. (And a big thanks to my friend who gave me the donor car so I could finish this one.)
  20. I built this last year. My club did a show for Goodguys and the Make N Take we had these SnapKit Camaro. Well we had a few left over I decided to do something with one. I decided to build a time attack car out of it. The decal on the hood, trunk, wing and front splitter is carbon kevlar.
  21. Ho everybody, here i show you a fast build. Also this kit has a story: it was the first Kit, my brother build loooong time ago and i became one simular kit for less in june this year. Only the wheels where missing and i took wheels from a 66 Chevelle Station "California Wheels". To make it complete, i took some brakedisc from a Ford Focus for a real look Take a look. Interieur and engine is all stock. simple and nice look, i think. Thanks for your attention,
  22. Well heres my latest project, its an AMT camaro concept with a revell 69 camaro front and rear molded on, it will have a ZR1 corvette drivetrain and suspension and a custom interior
